The joys of taking lots of almost identical shots has left me indecisive again.

This Plumbago fights for space with the Lassiandra at my front door. It's a mass of flowers right now, and with the deep purples of the Lassiandra, I just love it against the cream weatherboards.

Taken yesterday lunch time, Canon Powershot S3 IS, hand held, 12x zoom, natural dappled light.

Thank you!!

Two & a half years ago, I went camping by the Basingstoke Canal for the first time, where this photo was taken.. I went back in 2018 & 2019, and will be there again this summer.

I love going camping and shooting self-portraits in the surrounding woodland. This was taken about 7 in the morning as the sun was rising through the trees, creating all that beautiful dappled light, but not too harsh.

I've had a really productive day for a Monday! My weekend was super relaxed though, doing lots of fun things.

Describe your perfect weekend.. what would you do?

Around this time last year, my lovely man Simone & I discovered this semi-permanent camping set-up in nearby woodland - totally by accident - so we went there on the motorbike with a load of styling props to do a shoot.

There was a large tarpaulin canopy over a fire pit, a bucket, rope swings and some other bits so we added to it & took photos, much to my delight!

We played reggae through a speaker, made a hammock between two trees, tied fabrics, spent time building sets & brought snacks (v important!)

It was a perfect, hot, fun day, which fuelled my creativity during a little break from work.

I really think my bald head phase was such a strong look, and something I would never have entertained under normal circumstances of good health..!

There is a hypothetical Celtic tree Goddess called Druantia, who is the protector of trees, knowledge, creativity, passion, sex, and fertility of plants and animals. When I am feeling invincible, I definitely feel like I'm chanelling her energy, like on this wonderful creative summer's day in July last year.

In other news, my new website is finally up & running and I'm really pleased to announce that no-one really has the name Toulouki (nice one dad!)

My dad didn't get to choose this name for me as a baby, (which he loved and so do I) because my mother alledgedly didn't like it, so I feel it's quite fitting now.

So here you are - happy browsing!

Spent a day at Highgate Cemetery in London with my friends Tara and Richard. It was an absolutely amazing experience. The cemetery covers an area of some 37 acres and there are approximately 170,000 people buried in around 53,000 graves. Many famous people are buried there, including Karl Marx.

Spent a delightful few hours this morning in a local wood near Weeton between Leeds and Harrogate.

After a couple of attempts of photographing this years bluebells and being disappointed, this morning I couldn't have been happier as the Bluebell display was stunning.

Do you have a morning routine?

Don't laugh, but I have a habit tracker where I tick off various things as I do them most mornings.. it helps me stay focused and organised, less forgetful and sets me up for the rest of the day.

- I wake up and drink 1/2 litre of water

- The water reminds me to take Tamoxifen which is a cancer medication I'm on for the next 10 years

- I'm still in bed at this point so I do a 5 / 10 guided morning meditation, (usually by Jonathan Lehmann or Tori Webster)

- On Sundays I steam my face with hot water & eucalyptus oil & meditate during that time instead

- Get up, (make the bed if Mr Toulouki is up, make him tea if he's not) and cleanse & moisturise my face..

- Make my protein shake & workout with yoga warm up & warm down

- Breakfast, (loads more water & tea) then shower

This all makes me feel soooo good!

Happy Tush Thursday from the rail trail ~ Poughkeepsie, NY

I'm experimenting with a style that was inspired by painter Michelle Courier, a successful painter from my hometown of Midland. Her paintings are characterized (in my unschooled opinion) by bold colors, dappled light, strong shadows and not a lot of detail in the background (impressionism). I would like your honest opinion, does it work? Or does it not translate to photography? For some reason painters seem to be able to get away with bold colors that are not realistic but look fine in a painting but look out of place in a photograph. Anyway I'm always experimenting with new processes and styles and am trying to figure out if this is something that would appeal to buyers. So be honest, what do you think? Please see my two other examples next to this one.

The Londonist:

"Tower Hamlets Cemetery is unlike its Magnificent Seven brethren. Despite being set up by some of the wealthiest men of the Victorian era, it's not crawling with celebrity and extravagance like Highgate or Kensal Green. Tower Hamlets Cemetery instead functioned as a burial ground for London's working classes. It quickly filled and ceased as a functioning cemetery in 1966, but still remains a cemetery park"

Captured at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens outside Puerto Vallarta, this moment of sunlight filtering through the jungle canopy brings a spotlight to a single graceful palm. The delicate lighting reveals the quiet elegance and layered textures of the tropical forest understory.

What, I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately. It seemed like an appropriate title. Don't judge me!

Dodging snow showers was the order of the day, here in Wakefield we have had around 12 inches of snow in the last 3 days.

This was the scene on Kirkthorpe Lane near Wakefield this morning.

The shot is a handheld hdr with +-1 ev on each exposure, the brief moment of sunlight really made the tree still holding it's autumn colours at the end of the lane really stand out.

I'm not really enjoying the weather as I could not get to work today, however the photographic opportunites slightly outweighed the disapointment :-)

No trail; this and nearby Savantine Falls are accessible only by bushwhacking through the forest. A difficult hike, but well worth the effort.

Couple relaxing on a bench in the city of Peterborough, UK 2014, surrounded by dappled light from nearby trees. Small moments like this make my heart sing to be honest...

This photograph captures the beauty of the edge of a forest, where a wall of lush greenery invites you to explore its mysterious depths. The vibrant foliage creates a sense of wonder and tranquility, with the play of light and shadow adding depth and intrigue. The dense undergrowth and intertwined branches evoke a feeling of seclusion and harmony with nature, while the enchanting atmosphere sparks the imagination and beckons you to uncover the hidden secrets within.

When we first arrived at the Trinnacle, the sky was a wonderful mix of blue and small fluffy clouds. Sadly the clouds didn't hang around quite long enough for sunset, but they just hid the sun for long enough here to make the exposure a bit easier.
