"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills
When suddely I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils"
William Wordsworth
A lonesome Daffodil near the thousands of lovely yellow daffodil flowers by the stream at Farndale , North Yorkshire , very close to the Daffy Caffy.
This is the first sign of spring that I saw while walking around Boston. This Daffodil was a welcome sight while walking around the Back Bay. Note that it is a monocot, there are 6 petals that surround inner petals that surround the ovary. The Daffodil is part of the Narcissus family. Most commonly, they are yellow, although breeders have created different colored and multi rowed segmented Daffodils.
This photograph was taken on March 10, 2012, in our front yard on a gloriously sunny Spring day. These daffodils looked like distilled sunshine, bobbing and swaying cheerily in the breeze, just begging to be photographed. Taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T2i using an 18-135 mm lens.
