My father did not die in the line of service, however, he did serve int he Army for 7 years ... I was born while he was still in the Army .....
Here in the deep south: You will hear folks, refer to this week end, as "Decoration Day" .... and that is set aside, for loved ones, to honor, and change out flowers, on thier loved ones grave

Daddy III, my backyard bluebird, gathers up a mouthful of mealworms to take to his just fledged brood. Mama has them stashed down on the creek in a big pecan tree.

Was positively doing a jig on my windowsill trying to attract my attention.
Out of all the Possums that visit me, he is the shyest so I find it quite interesting that he has suddenly started to gravitate towards my window sill.
Who could resist a dancing possum!!!!

All of a sudden, Phoebe jumped out of the kitten box and up onto the bed and laid on Zeus' belly.
I missed the shot with her head resting on his belly, but I really love how this photo turned out.
This was taken with natural light only from our large bay windows in the master bedroom. The sky is overcast which is perfect for natural lighting, just like using a large softbox in a studio.
Look at Phoebe's paw - her claws are out as she kneads Zeus - true love!
This photo was taken on 13April10. Phoebe is around 5.5 pounds and Zeus is almost 12 pounds. He is twice her size in length too.

Daddy Long Legs @ Jordan Lake. These spiders much like ticks aren’t true spiders because they only have one body segment. They do not have venom but can produce a foul scent. They hunt small insects and feed on plant juices.

The bluebirds haven't been around much since their second brood fledged in Summer. But I have five feeders in the back yard now and lots of birds. The bluebirds have returned. I think because of the other birds near their nestbox. Daddy is checking it out here. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
All I know is what we call them ..this is from old file , haven't been in the field lately..It was on a cactus plant and this is the backside of it as it was trying to get away from the camera lens as I was poking at it for the macro..Must be nice to tip toe around cactus thorns with ease.. Never knew they had such patterns in their body until I got this close with macro
Actually, granddaddy-longlegs are not spiders. They are a type of arachnid, along with spiders, ticks, mites, and scorpions but they belong to a group called harvestmen not spiders. Also they are usually called “daddy-long-legs” in field guides not “granddaddy-longlegs” and are more appropriately called harvestmen.
