Le château de Beaugency, parfois appelé château Dunois, est situé à Beaugency, dans le département du Loiret, en région Centre-Val de Loire. Il fait partie des châteaux regroupés sous l’appellation touristique des châteaux de la Loire.
Édifié pendant la période médiévale, il s’agit d’un logis seigneurial d’abord propriété des seigneurs de Beaugency puis des rois de France et des ducs d’Orléans jusqu’à la révolution française de 1789. Le château bénéficie également d’un jardin suspendu, d’une cour d’honneur et d’une chapelle.
Essentiellement connu comme étant la demeure de Jean de Dunois (1402-1468), dit le bâtard d’Orléans compagnon d’armes de Jeanne d'Arc, le château a été témoin d’épisodes notables de l’Histoire de France : des figures historiques telles que François Ier, Louis XI et Jeanne d'Arc ont marqué la vie du château et de la ville de Beaugency. Suite au décret de Napoléon Ier de 1808, le Conseil général du Loiret transforme le château en dépôt de mendicité en 1838, .[Ce passage est contradictoire] .Il hébergera ensuite le musée d’art et tradition populaire de l’Orléanais jusqu’en 2002.
La demeure des princes de Dunois est aujourd’hui une demeure privée. Le château a été rouvert au public en octobre 2014 après des travaux de mise aux normes.

Let's continue our "journey through time."
We are still on the Dramont Peninsula on the Côte d'Azur in the south of France.
And finally, we turn our gaze toward the sea. Here, next to the typical red cliffs of the Esterel Mountains, whose foothills plunge into the Mediterranean here, we see a small rocky island with a striking tower.
This is the Île d'Or, which is privately owned and therefore unfortunately not open to visitors.
But even from the shore, it makes a great photo opportunity, especially at sunset.

Wie befinden uns noch immer auf der Halbinsel Dramont an der Cote d'Azur im Süden Frankreichs.
Und endlich richten wir unseren Blick auch einmal in Richtung Meer. Hier sehen wir neben den typischen roten Felsen vom Esterel Gebirge, dessen Ausläufer hier ins Mittelmeer eintauchen, eine kleine Felseninsel mit einem markanten Turm.
Dies ist die Île d'Or, welche sich in Privatbesitz befindet und somit leider nicht besichtigt werden kann.
Doch auch vom Ufer aus macht sie als Fotomotiv eine Gute figur. Vor allem bei Sonnenuntergang.

Le physalis alkekengi Franchetti est une fleur ornementale aussi connue sous le nom d’Amour en cage, Lanterne chinoise, cerise de terre ou encore Coqueret du Pérou. Cette baie très décorative est aussi comestible et connue pour certaines vertus Medicinales.

All I could see were two ears as this donkey was voraciously eating into the hedgerows and no amount of 'click-clicking' on my part could induce him to pose for me - and then I said "Hey Handsome!" and up he popped!!! Did I appeal to his male ego, perhaps LOL

En ce merveilleux matin d'automne, les oiseaux volaient autour de moi et mangeaient les derniers fruits aux arbres puis celui-ci s'est arrêté pour moi et ma caméra…

De Martinitoren, gelegen aan de Grote Markt, is de bekendste en met zijn 96,8 meter ook de hoogste toren van de stad Groningen. De toren hoort bij de Martinikerk. Voor de stadjers, de inwoners van de stad, heeft de toren de bijnaam d' Olle Grieze, Gronings voor de oude grijze.

The Martinitoren, located on the Grote Markt, is the best known and with its 96.8 meters also the highest tower in the city of Groningen. The tower belongs to the Martinikerk. For the townspeople, the inhabitants of the city, the tower has the nickname d 'Olle Grieze, Gronings for the old gray.
Depuis quelques années, le château n'a plus d'utilité militaire ou royale. Ouvert au public, il est géré par l' Historic Scotland qui s'occupe à la fois de l'administration et de la conservation du site. C’est l’attraction touristique la plus visitée en Écosse.
On trouve plusieurs expositions et cérémonies à l'intérieur du château, parmi lesquelles :
- les Honours of Scotland : les bijoux de la couronne et les regalia, objets symboliques de la royauté (Photos interdites).
- la Pierre du destin (« Stone of Destiny » ), un bloc de grès qui était utilisé lors des couronnements
- le mémorial national d'Écosse de la guerre
- le musée des Royal Scots Dragoons
- Mons Meg, un canon de siège du XVe siècle
- le One O'Clock Gun (un coup de canon tiré à 13 heures)
- la St.Margaret's Chapel, l’immeuble le plus ancien de la forteresse.
Entrecasteaux is a village about 7km from here. We went there last week for a drive out and the imposing Château caught my attention. While looking for a bit of privacy (we were both 'caught short') we unintentionally ended up on this very quiet road which fortunately gave us a commanding view of the Château and its surrounds so it was out with the camera once I'd zipped up! :-))
The Château was originally built in the 11th century but rebuilt later in the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries. In 1974, after several decades of abandonment, the castle was restored by the British painter Hugh Ian Macgarvie-Munn who turned the Château into a museum. We're aiming to go and visit it properly in March when it reopens.
