Cygnus atratus (black swan)

Tjörnin (The Pond) is a lake and recreational area in the centre of Reykjavík, which attracts many birds such as seagulls, swans and ducks. The Whooper Swan is a large white swan. It has a long thin neck, black webbed-feet and legs, and a black bill with a large triangular yellow patch on it. Adult birds are 140-160 cm in length, weigh 9-11 kg and they have a wingspan of 205-235 cm. The bird has an extensive geographic range in the northern hemisphere and breeds in countries like Iceland, Ireland and Great Britain.
