After navigating our way out of the ferry port at Dunkirk, always fun jostling with all the lorry traffic coming off the ferry, we hit Loon-Plage and quieter roads. We head for breakfast at Bergues, via Crawick and Brouckerque. Coffee and pastries in the square while the bells of the Belfry of Bergues rang was glorious.
Lunch at La Poupée in Poperinge, then on to Ypres, through the covered up Menin Gate. Quick drink at The Times before heading to our B&B at Varlet Farm. 50 gentle miles in beautiful weather, and unusually no winds.
Stopped for a bit of breakfast at this wharf just outside Barrington, NS, Canada. I was traveling light this day with just the camera bag (food stuffed in my jersey pockets).
Thanks to CycleOps for inviting me as a member of PezCycling News out to their launch event for the cool new Hammer indoor trainer May 11, 2016. As CycleOps also sponsor the Trek-Segafredo team, Justin Henkel arranged a ride for the two of us with the team as they were preparing for the Tour of California. An easy ride for them and a grovelling ride for us!
