European olive is just so pretty inside. One of my favorite online wood ID sites - Hobbit House, Inc. - has a great page on Olea europaea here. The stuff nearer the end is more like what I have here.
My new $80 pole saw snapped almost immediately. It's a Fiskars brand, and I usually love their stuff, but I'm going to have to return this flimsy thing to Home Depot. Very disappointed. The saw blade was stuck up in the tree, the pole with its broken tip down with me. It would have been very helpful to have it stick around for another 5 cuts or so.
I switched over to the chainsaw. Camille let me plug my electric in behind her couch in the living room. I had a new 100' extension cord, so I didn't dirty her nice, lightly colored rug.
