Custom Labbit for Rivet Gallery's "Down the Bunny Hole" show, May 2008

I love love love this photo!!! The only thing I did was the pop the color just a tiny bit. It was nearing sunset. Love the way it shines on Penelope's face!!!

Another teaser photo for her new mommy. Boy, it takes a long time for international delivery. Hopefully she'll show up soon, Tania!!

I ended up making a bunch of custom sticker designs for the Hibernia scene. Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to render those large, curved-top panels correctly here. The white stripes should have a clear gradient to them that trails off to translucent at the top and bottom of each sign. That effect can be seen in the facades breakdown and somehow worked out properly in the final scene too. I guess you win some, you lose some.

The 'BIG FIG' sign is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be too clear but I think it worked out fine for the final scene. The 'VITA RUSH' sign was fun to design. I tried to take a slightly sci-fi spin on the original logo and I added a juice effect courtesy of one of the Monkie Kid stickers. I probably could have spent more time on the middle two large signs but they aren't visible in the final so its ok by me.

My custom #68 is already on her way to Virginia, here in the U.S.! She is a sweet girl who's base doll is Seeking Apelles Takara Blythe with a haircut.

Don't be deceived by her quiet demeanor, this girl can have wise things to say just at the right moment and she's excited to join her amazing dolly family!

I hope you love her as much as I loved creating her! <3

In February, I moved from South Africa to New Zealand, but unfortunately my Lego hasn't made it over here with me yet, which is why I haven't posted anything in months.

I have made several BrickLink and FireStar Toys orders which finally arrived. These consisted of parts for new custom figures I plan to make/parts for upgrading existing minifigures. (See the notes for details.)

A 1950 Ford full custom owned by Stu, a friend of mine. Stu has been a body man his entire career and is now close to 80, you would never know it though. Stu has owned this car since the late '50's and it was the only family car for a long time, his kids grew up riding in it, they took it from home, Victoria BC Canada, to California many times for holidays, then he decided to build a house so he took the trunk off, took the back seat out and used it as a 'truck', to haul the lumber in, he still lives in that house, sadly his wife died five years ago. Finally after all the years flew by, Stu had started to customize the car but he was too busy working so the car sat for a few years, eventually he decided to finish it. He chopped the top, put a custom DeSoto grille in it, molded the parking lights, frenched the headlights and put '55 Pontiac 'brows' over them, rounded the hood corners front and back, louvered the hood, took the chrome off of it, removed the door handles and put in electric switches to open them, molded lake pipes along the bottom, shortened the side chrome, put a '58 Chev Impala 'fake' roof scoop at the back of the roof line, he carried peaks along the trunk to match the roof scoop, tunneled the licence plate, frenched the rear tail lights, lowered it, reupholstered it and put a Chev V8 engine in it with an automatic transmission, he topped it all off with a Candy Apple Red paint job. He's still doing bodywork for the hot rod fraternity and drives this gem quite often. I've know Stu for probably 50 years. My 'stock' bodied '50 Ford is 7 photo's down from this one, compare the two, you will see a major difference.

Loosely inspired by the Vaklin insurgency from the Purge comics.

I got that Microfighter Resistance Fighter set, and immediately fell in love with the figure.

I didn't really get any of The Force Awakens sets when they came out, so it was my first time getting the new pilot suit and helmet.

The figure was practically perfect already, but I wanted to add a little more.

Rebel Pilot:

I immediately changed the head, cause I love how these new heads look. The main figure details were all kept with same with the exception of a few. The white print seemed to be washed out, so I painted over it with a firmer shade of white. I added some black boots, just for a little contrast, and changed the color of the gray tubing on his thighs. The gap between the torso and legs was filled in. The whole figure was then washed in dark brown for a better look. I added simp pockets on the sides of his arms and legs and wrapped his hands in Etape. The helmet has battle damage of various browns, black, and even white for paint scratches.

For his accessory I made an SE-14C. The base was a brickarms gun, with the back chopped off and sights/piping glued on. The whole thing was painted in a matte black. I think I got the likeness pretty well, but I'm missing a side barrel.

I think that's it!

Overall I'm super pleased with how this turned out, as it is one of the first Star Wars figs I've done in a while.
