a commissioned cushion for a new baby girl
blogged: blueberry-park.blogspot.com/2011/07/it-seems-like-long-ti...
I made this small pin-cushion-sized lavender sachet with black felt, decorated with felt, buttons, embroidery threads and sequins.
This is based on the sunny spread blanket, but with only four squares plus the border. It's a birthday present for the 18 year old daughter of one of my oldest friends. Once I got my head round the detail of the circle (which did result in a lot of nail chewing and ripping out what I'd done - not helped by trying to do it while watching The Killing which has subtitles) it was a dream. I wanted to find a dark orange silk to line the cushion with and peek out through the holes but I couldn't find what I wanted so settled for a more restrained blue green silk. I hope she likes it!
I've got a confession to make: I'm addicted to cushions. Some collect stamps or shoes. I collect cushions.
I bought these for only 5 EUR per cushion. I mean seriously, how could I have NOT bought them?
finally picked up a snoozing project - hopefully will soon have 4 cushions, all different patterns but in the same colours - Rowan Fine Milk Cotton yarn
Each one of Jenny Alméns cushions is an original. The cushions are made of reclaimed material – 100% cotton sheets with the embroidery and sometimes a monogram intact. Jenny draws with water resistant pen directly on the textile and each cushion tells a unique story. Available at manos.
I have done a few of these kits- dmc I think, mostly flowers and always given away as gifts. Found this one half price so sewed it up and made it up into a cushion.
Another angle of the pin cushion. Have I mentioned how much fun these are?
There is a pattern, but I didn't follow it. Basically you crochet two sc circles/hexagons, just like you would start an amigurumi. I increased up to 48. Then you sc the layers together, stuffing before you do the last stitches. The next step is embroidering the yarn through the top. Just follow the increases to make the embroidery evenly space. Pull it tightly to cinch the cushion and create the flower shape! Then embellish with a button, or you could use a cute little crocheted flower.
To help to protect itself from fish and others predators the cushion star excretes huge amounts of thick mucus that must taste bad to attackers.
Pour aider à se protéger contre les poissons et autres prédateurs, cette étoile de mer excrète d'énormes quantités de mucus épais qui a mauvais goût.

Number 33 for 120 Pictures in 2020: Cushions
This was once one of my favourite sweaters, but as it became worn I converted the main body of it to this cushion cover.
Whenever I need an inspiration I look through my vintage children's books and in this book I found just what I needed; a very special place for these two little chaps. Their daily occupation now is to sail across the seas and live on a cushion!

In einem meiner alten Kinderbücher fand ich genau die Idee, die ich suchte: eine Behausung für diese zwei kleinen Kerle. Nun also leben sie täglich auf einem Boot und schipppern übers Meer, bzw. übers Kissen!

Another pillow case - made from linen and a piece of appleprint received in a fat quarter swap from Sinna Tagasi.
I discovered, I had a piece of linen in the exact same colour as the brown print in the apple fabric - and I find this works well.
for 7DoS: busy day meant I decided to combine two days with this snap of the dog's bed - though I may have got more of the repeating pattern in the shot if I hadn't got so close to it. Hmm- seemed like a good idea at the time ;)
The last of the shots take from the afternoon visit to Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. Don't sit down, it may not be that comfortable ...
Hand knit in 100% pure new wool. I loved knitting this Aran set. It's a gift for my niece from her mom & dad.
4ft x 5ft, it's sure to keep her warm.

The picture is quite dark but the sofa isn't that dark in real. I really like this cushion... and I'm sure there will be more :)!
Cushions and blanket display - fun ripple cushion pattern - Garden Bell and the rest Attic 24 inspired. Blogged at www.kimblesathome.blogspot.com
This is a very pretty and feminine pin cushion. It is decorated with appliqued flowers and embellished with cute buttons. We should all have charming flowers somewhere in our sewing box!
I have made this pin cushion in a combination of lovely quality fabrics- printed cotton, plain pink cotton and felt.
This cushion measures approx 21.5cms/5inches across and approx 10cms/4inches in its length.
It is filled with a polyester wadding.
This would make a beautiful addition to your sewing box or a lovely gift!
