For a late Freight Car Friday offering here's a view of Berkshire and Eastern Railroad train EDMO is exiting the west portal of the 4.75 mile long Hoosac Tunnel at MP 420.4 on the B&E operated Pan Am Southern Freight Mainline, the one time Boston and Maine Fitchburg Division.
The classic Conrail can opener logo adorns an empty tri level auto rack that provides a great visual of how tight the clearances are on this legendary bore. Orignally double tracked, when the tunnel was reduced to single track in 1957 the rails were centered to allow for TOFC loads. Clearances were increased in 1997 by lowering the track and again in 2007 by notching the roof providing the current clearance of 19 ft 6 in to clear most auto racks as well as double stacked international containers.

The current Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius (Vilniaus Šv. Stanislovo ir Šv. Vladislovo arkikatedra bazilika) was constructed between 1779 and 1783 in an austere Neoclassical style based on a quadrangular shape. The interior was completed in 1801. The main façade is dominated by the six massive Doric columns and is adorned with sculptures of the Four Evangelists by Italian sculptor Tommaso Righi, flanked by statues of Abraham and Moses.
The Belfry next to the cathedral was originally constructed as part of the defensive wall of the city in the 13th century. In the 16th century the defensive tower became the belfry of the Cathedral. It acquired its present appearance in the beginning of the 19th century. The height of the belfry is 52 meters.

Swift Current Falls gets its name for a good reason. This is not a place you want to fall into the water. It would be more than a bumpy ride down. The locations is one of the easiest places to get to however most don’t see it from this angle because they look at it from the bridge above. While it looks good from above I really like the walk down to look back up at the falls and the Mountain in the background. I missed sunrise at this location because I was shooting wildlife but I would love to come back and shoot it during sunrise.

For over year now this part of Henbury Open Space has been given over to Wessex Water. They are constructing a new 6.5km pipeline which is planned to finish by spring 2022. It will connect Bristol’s existing trunk sewer in Lawrence Weston to the Frome Valley relief sewer near Cribbs Causeway. Its meant several areas are now home to earth moving equipment and all the general clutter of a construction site. Sadly its also resulted in the felling of trees along part of the proposed route. New saplings that formally occupied this space seemed to have been removed
I've loved it when I've tried it before, but life got in the way with prior attempts and it fell by the wayside.
I did read something else in the interim between the last entry, an insider account of the Mueller investigation. Not special and my life did not change.
UPDATE: I abandoned this; I decided I have too little time left remaining to me to spend on a purposely pointless book. All journey, no destination.

C&M 7014 plows its way across the new Walker Ave grade crossing on its way to the Grand Rapids Eastern RR interchange. Until last year, the road had crossed over the tracks via an overpass dating from the 1940s. The decision was made by the city of Walker, the Kent County Road Commission, MDOT, and the railroad, to remove the overpass and replace it with a conventional grade crossing. The bridge needed work, and it hindered visibility for many nearby businesses. C&M only runs a few trains a week through here, so a grade crossing was the best option.

Currently it is almost impossible to get clean views of most tourist attractions around the world. This is the oldest temple in Tokyo (and one of the most beautiful and important one in Japan). A fantastic architecture so well preserved, despite the millions of visitors that receives each year.
