Playing a little catch-up. Taken back in June on a hike my husband and I took into Ingles Falls. We were there at the harshest light of day and the the falls were covered in shadows, but the abundance of flora more than made up for the disapointment.

Day 87: I have naturally straight hair....bolt strait...like so straight it doesn't like to curl... Granted, partly it is because my hair is currently so long, but even when it is shorter curls seldom stay longer than an hour or two. I changed my shampoo-conditioner to a "natural" silicone free formula and I thought the less buildup on my hair might make it want to curl a little better. This is post-hot-roller removal, but pre-combing. Looks promising....but NOPE Curl was mostly gone after combing, and pretty much all gone by the end of the night....sad

What a difference two decades make. Since 1991 I've had my hair chemically relaxed 4 times. I can blame that and hormonal changes, I guess, for the sad loss of my ringlets. The color? It's not as red as it used to be but it still looks redder and brighter under the sun.

You know, as unmanageable as I used to think the curls were, if I knew then what I know now, I never would have relaxed the hair.

Ah well. The things you learn.

Paper Birch Curls... small and large

I took my daughter for her first haircut today, at the grand age of 2 years and 9 months. It's taken a while to persuade her to go and the lady didn't get long before she wriggled away but it is at least tidier!

I feel really bleurgh this afternoon - fingers crossed it isn't the lurgy setting in.
