American curl

Curls within curls, an embryo in the open.

Taken at a recent meetup of the Worcester Flickr Group at Spetchley Gardens.

This was one of those wigs that was set in curls, but you can use straighteners on it. I got fed up with the curls pretty soon and straightened it out.

This plant was sending out a shoot of some kind and I really liked the little springy curl.

Hopper (my sister-n-law's cat) really knows how to power lounge and curl up for the holidays!

The artistic curves and curls of the tendrils on my passion vine really caught my eye!

A wave crashing on the Palos Verdes coastline.

I was shooting from a point of land that juts out quite a bit further from shore than the surrounding areas, which causes less interference for the waves and made them quite large in this spot. With each wave water was spraying off of the top of the curl and I used a fast shutter speed to capture the individual droplets as clearly as possible.

Made with a Konica AR Hexanon 50mm f1.4 mounted on a Panasonic GF-1 for those who care about such things. I like the warmer character of this early 1960s lens over more contemporary designed-for-digital lenses. Though this image was made at f1.4, it sharpens rapidly until at f2.8 it’s razor sharp. A distinguishing characteristic is the particularly lovely bokeh, though shooting with it is a bit challenging since it back focuses a bit as well as underexposes about half a stop or so.

Every so often, one must post a straightforward shot of one's stunning daughter because she never takes a bad photo and because it's the best time of year to showcase the curls and their golden highlights and finally because her depth and beauty really cannot be "captured" but merely glimpsed... and so here's a glimpse.

Magic Curl Barbie is in the middle, the other two Barbies are there to model the extra clothes :) There was also a fashion in the stuff I got from my husband's cousin! I was so happy to find out who this Barbie was! Thank you! You know who you are :) She got her spa day and I couldn't be more happy about her!
