On a rainy day I grabbed one of my favorite coffee cups and some old piches that came from Afghanistan and just started moving one light around with a fill card.
Just a wee detail shot from High Cup Nick. If you look closely you can see the scale against the walkers along the edge of the crags. An amazing place for a wander with the added b
onus of being very handy for The Stag Inn at Dufton. Some excellent beers including one or two excellent local ones - Helm Bar are always worth a try.
A very nice cup that belonged to my Nanna.
Sometimes I find it hard to sketch when there is a lot happening at the time and I have a self imposed pressure in my head "This one has to be a good one"
Other times when I just go for it - the sketch often works better!
Thankfully I will have the chance to draw this again and do a better job.

These cup-shaped structures serve the purpose of asexual propagation on Marchantia polymorpha. They form little discs of plant tissue that can be spread by water, for example, and grow into clones of the mother plant. You can see several of these gemmae having spilled out already and lying on top of the mother plant. This is one of the images I used in a focus stack here.
Sarcoscypha austriaca - scarlet elf cups found from late winter through to early spring and a real favourite with me. These were found at a site in the Lee Valley (UK) and are an annual feature.
Ringing in the New Year with a strong cup of tea. Decided to join the "Project 356" Hope I can do it. Have a great year.

Lovely, large patches of golden Cup Plants are in bloom all along the Nippersink.
A heavy layer of fog rolling around and heavy wildfire smoke made for an interesting sky.

This beautiful mug was hand made by a New York based artist Stepanka. I own two of her pieces of art and am longing for more! It is so beautiful, very light and you can see light through the intricate pattern on the bottom (after you finish your coffee ;-))
