Team Bears Unlimited, consisting of UCA students John White, Ben Tackett, R. Kyle Eichelberger and Michelle Enfinger, demonstrated the Bear Claw System in preparation for competing in the Microsoft Imagine Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia. The system is a device that can help physical and occupational therapy patients through game play via a glove fitted with sensors that communicates through a Windows smart phone. The team is competing for a $50,000 prize and is mentored by faculty members Dr. Sinan Kockara and Dr. Tansel Halic.

These were also estate sale finds. I don't collect Fire King, but I couldn't leave these behind. They're just too cute.

A lovely little bike bell I saw in one of our bike sheds.

Inspired by Patchwork and Pottery (http://www.flickr.com/photos/patchworkpottery/sets/72157600002406583/) - love her stuff!!

Made these for my Mum and her twin sister for their birthday - hence the sunbonnett twins stitched on them :o)

Unfortunately, the cup was broken long ago. -b-

A former Shearings Volvo B10M with Van Hool T8 bodywork in the Dodds of Troon fleet heads in to Hampden. With Dodds smart livery it belies it's age as former M642DVU.

One of the District's earliest tearooms, the Tea Cup Inn, was initiated as a fundraising effort by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1900. It was originally located in the former mansion of diplomat and historian George Bancroft (1800-1891), at 726 17th Street NW. Under longtime proprietor Anna Coleman, it built a loyal following. This postcard is from the 1910s, after it moved to 611 12th Street NW, where it stayed until 1916. After its building was bought that year by a developer, it moved again to 732 15th Street NW. It had changed quite a bit by that time. A 1922 article finds the proprietor, Harry Maynard, arrested on charges of illegal sale and possession of whiskey.

A Stanley Cup Champions banner is lowered at the Honda Center after the Anaheim Ducks clinch the title in Game 5.

While developing another iOS graphics app, I 'accidentally' created a lithography filter — litho as in wax-crayon-on-stone-printmaking, not offset-lithography. Like this 19th century print I scanned: www.flickr.com/photos/tinrocket/4208002566/

I rolled the filter up into its own little app that loads pictures from the film roll and processes them. There are no settings to adjust. Processing time on an iPhone 4S is about 10 seconds. After processing, you can view the image and save it back to the film roll. This image was output at 4096px.

Should I release this as an iPhone/iPad app? Mac too? What would you like to use it for? Please leave comments below.
