Kozy made this little painting for a group show at Roq la Rue Gallery in Seattle called “A Cabinet of Natural Curiosities" which ran during February of 2008.
So I had this image in mind the first time I spotted these Chollas below this really cool rock formation out in Snow Canyon but finding one that offered up this perspective ended up being a huge pain. Luckily Kelcee has eagle eyes and she spotted this bad boy a few hundred feet from the trail.
This image was a complete nightmare to put together; 10 images focus stacked and 1 more for a perspective blend. Apparently the auto-blend mode in Photoshop hates cacti so I had to blend nearly the entire image by hand.
Anyways the clouds out there at sunset were absolutely amazing! I decided to go for a black and white edit to bring more drama to the scene. Hope you enjoy it more than I did putting it together :P

Opening day at the new Animal Rescue League shelter in Pittsburgh. One of the largest animal shelters in Pennsylvania, the facility serves around 50,000 animals a year - of all kinds, as you can see :-)

Who wants to get up in the morning? What could be better than cuddle time with mom, especially when your bed is the frozen subarctic tundra! Mom's thick coat of fur provides extra warmth for little bodies and feet, so little bears love to hop on top to catch a snooze. Mom never seems to mind their cuddle time. #PolarBearCubs
