In May 1998, the Faculty Mentor Training Program and the EOP established the “Don Dorsey Excellence in Mentoring Award” in recognition of Professor Dorsey’s invaluable contributions to mentoring and mentor training at CSUN. This award is presented to faculty, staff, administrators, and/or students who have made exceptional contributions to mentoring at CSUN. The first recipient was the award's namesake, Dr. Don Dorsey.

This year's recipients are Professor Edward Jackiewicz, Professor Sean Murray, Dr. William Watkins, and EOP Co-Founder and Leader Raul Aragon

On Tuesday, May 5, 2015 the Educational Opportunity Programs hosted a reception to recognize the accomplishments of graduating EOP students. Over 600 EOP students are anticipated to graduate this Spring and Summer.

At the event students received a complimentary EOP Sash, a token of appreciation from the program to publicly acknowledge their hard work.

Congratulations to all of the graduates!

On May 9th, graduating CSUN students, staff, family and friends celebrated at the 2015 Aztlan Graduation. A small ceremony dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of the hard working class of 2015.

Their website states: "At the graduation ceremony, graduates are encouraged to wear clothing of their cultural origin as a way to honor their families, ancestors, and heritage…graduating in cultural clothing is encouraged as a way to give tribute to those who have gotten them this far. Upon recognition, all Aztlan Grad graduates will be allowed to give a brief speech in any language thanking parents, friends, professors, mentors, family, etc." - aztlangraddecsun.weebly.com/

We would like to congratulate the many EOP students who participated in the ceremony.

September is EOP Month and every year we take the opportunity to celebrate the existence of EOP and the success of its students.

This year we had a successful celebration at the unveiling of our commemorative EOP plaque that was made possible by longtime supporter Professor Glenn Omatsu. This was an opportunity for students to (re)connect with the trailblazers who fought to make CSUN the diverse campus it is today.
