“You just look at the world,
and you see things unraveling,
and you say,
'I wonder what we ought to do?'
Things are seldom crystal clear”

Crystal Falls, Kinsmen Park / Hiawatha Park, Sault Ste. Marie at -18°C / 0°F.
Crystal Creek flows over a high step-like granite escarpment in the Hiawatha Highlands, creating Crystal Falls: a series of falls, pools, and cascades, that drop nearly 30 meters over a run of 90 meters.
It's been awhile and I've been missing you all.
Here's one I captured off of my car window one morning. I hated to scrape it off!
Raindrops on a leaf. Firelight ~ Spiraea Japonica.
I saw these as I was on my way down to the beach near home. The sunlight was perfect for catching the raindrops.
Much better viewed large.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)

odd sun flare occurred, painting the polaroid with blobs of pink light - and it was magic! a crystal on top of a crystal and the tendril of a plant
For Macro Mondays theme - Glaze. Detail of crystalline glaze from a piece in my ceramics collection.
Crystalline is a special effects glaze made primarily of particles of zinc oxide and silica. These two ingredients, along with others, are mixed with water and applied to the ceramic pot in a thick paste. While at peak temperature in the firing kiln (around 2350 degrees F), a chemical reaction takes place between the zinc oxide and the silica forming seed crystals from which the crystal will eventually mature. After the chemical reaction is stimulated, the kiln is cooled 200 degrees below the peak temperature. The temperature is then held for 5 hours to allow the crystals to grow to the desired size.
The crystalline glaze is white in color. Metallic pigments such as manganese dioxide, iron oxide, nickel oxide, cobalt carbonate, or copper carbonate as well as others, are added to create the wide color spectrum of the glaze.
Happy Macro Mondays, everyone!
Iridescent polished Labradorite, a mineral that forms triclinic crystals. Y’all old folks who read titles may already be singing the soundtrack to Hair. Comments welcome on whether the 5th Dimension version of “Aquarius” is better than the Broadway cast performance on Ed Sullivan.

....at the edge of the loch, the ice sheet was transparent. There was strong sunlight and a deep blue sky which was being reflected in the ice crystals. This was an elegantly shaped pocket of air, trapped beneath the see-through ice, with hexagonal crystals on the surface.
The Crystal Mill is an 1892 wooden powerhouse located on an outcrop above the Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado. It is accessible from Marble, Colorado via four-wheel drive. The mill was constructed in 1893 by George C. Eaton and B.S. Phillips, promoters of the Sheep Mountain Tunnel and Mining Company. The mill was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 1985.

Like pieces of a broken crystal chandelier, chunks of ice lay littered on Jökulsárlón beach. The low afternoon sun lights up the many facets in the ice which glow against the black sand beach.
I am a huge fan of the very common photographic composition from here with a long exposure of the beached ice against receding surf. However I wanted to do something a bit different, trying to capture the gestalt of the scattered pieces of beached icebergs with their origins in the icefields in the background. I'm not sure I achieved my goal, and wish I'd focus stacked to get a bit more dof (although stacking probably not possible here). Oh well, hindsight is usually 20/20... thanks for looking.

What do you see in the crystal ball? Is the future dark and stormy or filled with light? It all depends what you choose to see.

Shot for Week 32 of my "52 Weeks of 2022" flickr group project given the theme "Crystal Ball Photography".
These things are so much fun to work with. I had visions of an outdoor shot of this red bridge and waterfall near my house, but the weather is not cooperating. That forced me inside, and I am happy it did, or I wouldn't have learned about light painting with a crystal ball.

I am flat broke, but I was gifted a nikon D800E camera in hopes I could do something for jon in thailand to help him with the dogs. I've decided to try and sell it on eBay, and send the profits to him, but I thought I might offer it here first. anyone interested, please flickr mail me for details. I will ship free within the U.S.
