One of the "Big Three" of famous Yokai (oni and tengu are the other two), the kappa is easily more prevalent and popular in Japan than Bigfoot is in America. Seriously. Here, let me put it in perspective:
In America, "Danger! No Swimming" signs show a little sillhouette of somebody drowning.
In Japan, "Danger! No Swimming" signs show a kappa devouring a child's butt.
See what I mean?
Kappas are kind of an odd mixture of turtle, monkey, and man. They are aquatic, and quite mischievous - some are nice, some are tricky, but many are mean, desiring nothing less than some human rump roast. You know, I think there's something else I have to explain here.
Kappas eat meat from the human anus. They like big butts and cannot lie.
Wow.
*ahem* ANYWAY, kappas also love cucumbers - in fact, you can sometimes get one to stop chasing your ass by feeding him a cucumber! (And yes, this is the reason why cucumber rolls are called kappamaki. Wow.) Of course, there are other ways to deal with marauding kappas if you lack a cucumber. You can also bow to one - you see, every kappa has a little indentation on top of its head that can hold water. If th water spills, it becomes powerless, so a pretty common tactic is to bow to a kappa. If he returns the gesture, he just might spill his water! And then he'll really be embarrassed. I mean, that's like getting Superman to eat kryptonite because "I double dog dare you!" And the other way to escape a kappa is to fart really hard in his face. Really, really hard. So hard that, according to traditional artwork, the very force of your flatulence blows him away.
You know, I totally didn't intend this to become so scatological. It's just that Japan is Japan. But anyway, another way to escape a kappa is to tear off its arms, and make it apologize to you before returning them. I guess it has to apologize for being armless, or something. But a properly disarmed (ha ha) kappa will then repay you, either by feeding you fish every day (but fish don't have butts!), or teaching you some of its vast medicinal lore. So that's how proctologists earn their degrees.

"Yowie is one of several names given to a hominid reputed to live in the Australian wilderness. The creature has its roots in Aboriginal oral history. As is the case with the North American Sasquatch, many people discount the existence of the yowie considering it more likely to be a combination of misidentification, folklore and hoax. Yowie-type creatures are common in Aboriginal Australian legends, particularly in the eastern Australian states."

After my nearly homicidal rampage, the revelation which I had improved my mental condition greatly. Instead of batsh*t crazy, I was only slightly addled. But now, I liked crazy. It was more fun than being normal. But at the same time, it could be dangerous. I had quickly (and wisely) chose not just to use the cleaver anymore, but to sate my natural talents and snipe. It felt better to retain parts of my old self, even though I had changed. I had changed, this I could not deny. But still, I refused to lose myself. This is why I later apologized profusely to Klip, and then told my friends what had happened, the whole story. They listened in silence, unsure of how to respond. I have a halfhearted grin, which they mirrored. Feeling somewhat better, I left. At least i could talk to someone now.
Our next mission was like old times. I would provide cover with my rifle, staying true to the description of "Overwatch." We were scouting out an abandoned city, to gage Urag troop movements in the area. The squad left me up on a high spot, and continued onwards into the city. My cover was critical in the close quarters of the city. Anything that got inside too close to them, I took out. With all of their blind spots, an Urag could be hiding anywhere. So I covered them until they could go no further from me for I to be effective, and then they covered me until I caught up with them, and found another high spot. We continued leapfrogging until we saw what we were looking for, Urags off in the distance. Upon this sighting, I climbed onto an arch between two buildings, and secured a rope in case I needed to get off quickly. The arch was quite narrow, so i had to be careful where I stepped. Cryptid and the rest moved forward to engage the Urags, and draw out any more of them that were hidden. It worked, and I saw a sight that chilled my blood. Mutants had come out of the buildings and towards my friends. However, these new ones were not impervious to weapons fire. The Urags must have learned from the jailbreak that uncooperative Mutants impervious to their weapons weren't a good idea. I saw several wilt under the fire of my squad, until a new player came to the field. This one, the bullets simply bounced off, and Cryptid's grenades did little. One of the original batch must have been adjusted to taking orders, I thought. But I knew how to kill them. I tried radioing Cryptid, but comms were down. Damn, I thought as I drew a bead on him. To hit the eyes, as I had before, would be an extremely difficult shot. And then, I leaned forward just a bit too far...
I felt myself falling forwards, and off of the arch. My fall came to a sudden stop, several feet from the ground. Somehow, the rope had become entwined around my foot, suspending me off of the ground. My cleaver had fallen from my sheath, but I still gripped my rifle. I still had a job to do, after all. Upside down, I focused on my target. This would be a difficult shot, made much harder. But if anyone could do it, I could. I drew a bead on the Urag's eye, right as it was about to slash Cryptid with his staff. I squeezed the trigger, praying... And was rewarded with the sight of the Urag falling. My rifle seemed to pack more of a punch than the Magnum had several weeks ago, and proved enough to pierce the eye, and penetrate the skull. Mopping up the rest, the squad returned in time to see me extricating myself from my predicament. "That," I said while bumping Klip on the shoulder, "That was the money shot."

Elwedritsche from Neustadt/Weinstraße found their way to the Neuer Markt (New Market) in Wernigerode in the Harz mountains, Sachsen-Anhalt (Saxony-Anhalt), Germany!
Elwedritsche, or Elwetritsche, or Ilwetritsche are mythological creatures of the Palatinate region in south-west Germany (see wikipedia-quotation below).
But how did they come to Wernigerode in Sachsen-Anhalt which is about 400 km (~250 mi) away? This plate explains it:
Translation:
"In the good olden days, about 8 miles before Christmas, small kobolds (sprites of German folklore) lived in the Palatinate Forest that helped the poor winegrowers out of many a tricky situation but also reduced many a citizen to despair with the tricks they played on them.
This little people called Elwedritsche live merrily and jolly down to the present days. When in 1989 a twinning was arranged between the towns Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Wernigerode, an Elwedritsche mother and her egg set out for the Harz mountains. Here they are now to be marvelled at.
We can only guess how many of these funny fellows moved to the Harz and to Wernigerode. Everytime you hear of mysterious or funny tricks played in or around Wernigerode, Elwedritsche might be involved."
---quotation from en.wikipedia.org about Elwedritsche:---
The Elwedritsch is a cryptid or mythical creature that supposedly inhabits the Palatinate of Germany. It is described as being a chicken-like creature with antlers. It also has scales instead of feathers. However, it is said that their wings are of little use. That is why they live mainly in underbrush and under vines. Sometimes Elwetritschen are depicted with antlers of a stag and their beaks often appear to be very long. In the second half of the 20th century, artists increasingly portrayed Elwetritschen as female by adding breasts. Elwetritschen supposedly originate from crossbreeding chickens, ducks, and geese with mythical wood creatures such as goblins and elves. Being a fowl, they naturally lay eggs, which as a result of descending from forest spirits, grow during breeding season. Eggs in various sizes are artistically depicted at the “Elwetritschenbrunnen” in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
(...)
The area in which tales of the Elwetritsch are spread expands from the Palatinate Forest in the west of Germany towards the east across the Upper Rhine Plain to the southern parts of the Odenwald. The mythical creature also appears in the north of Baden-Württemberg. In the Main-Tauber-Kreis, where they are known as “Ilwedridsche”, the children are told that at night the creatures sleep in the crowns of the willow trees standing next to the river Tauber. In Neustadt an der Weinstraße, which is said to be the “capital” of the Elwetritsches, there is an Elwetritsche-fountain, created by Gernot Rumpf. Other sources consider Dahn in the southwestern Palatinate, which also has a Elwetritsche-fountain, Erfweiler or other villages as secret capitals of these creatures. The Pennsylvania Dutch are convinced that Palatinate people--their biggest group of ancestors--all of whom emigrated to America, had taken some “Elbedritschlicher” with them “so ass sie kenn Heemweh grigge deede” (so that they wouldn’t become homesick). Tales of the Elwetritschen are also documented in Amish communities.

Wernigerode is a picturesque town in the northeast of the Harz mountains, situated at the foot of the Brocken (1141 m = 3743 ft) which is the highest mountain of the Harz.
Wernigerode has many half-timbered houses, particularly the beautiful Gothic town hall, and the impressive Schloss Wernigerode (Wernigerode Castle) towers above the town. The Harzer Schmalspurbahn (Harz Narrow Gauge Railways) operates at Wernigerode station, connecting Wernigerode with the Brocken and the town of Nordhausen in the south of the Harz mountains.

Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis
The Saddle-billed Stork breeds in marshes and other floodlands in tropical lowland. It builds a large, deep stick nest in a tree, laying one or two white eggs weighing about 146g each. It does not form breeding colonies, and is usually found alone or in pairs. The incubation period is 30-35 days, with another 70 - 100 days before the chicks fledge.
This is a huge bird that regularly attains a height of 150 cm (5 feet) and a 270cm (9 feet) wingspan. The male is larger and heavier than the female, with a range of 5.1-7.5 kg, the female is usually between 5 and 6.9 kg. It is probably the tallest, if not the heaviest, of the storks. Females are distinctly smaller than the males. It is spectacularly plumaged. The head, neck, back, wings, and tail are iridescent black, with the rest of the body and the primary flight feathers being white. The massive bill is red with a black band and a yellow frontal shield (the “saddle”). The legs and feet are black with pink knees. Sexes are identically plumaged except that the female has a golden yellow iris, while the male's is brown. Juveniles are browner grey in plumage.
They are silent except for bill-clattering at the nest. Like most storks, these fly with the neck outstretched, not retracted like a heron; in flight, the large heavy bill is kept drooping somewhat below belly height, giving these birds a very unusual appearance to those who see them for the first time (see here for photo). To experienced birdwatchers on the other hand, this makes them easily recognizable even if seen from a distance. It has been suggested that due to the large size and unusual appearance in flight, this species is the basis for the "Big Bird" and Kongamato cryptids.
The Saddle-billed Stork, like most of its relatives, feeds mainly on fish, frogs and crabs, but also on small birds and small reptiles . They move in a deliberate and stately manner as they hunt, in a similar way to the larger herons.

While turtle hunting she decided to walk a bit further in the woods. I tried telling her doesn't look good honey. She didn't take my advice and continued down in the brush. Well of course there was some loud rustling and she came running out there so fast, she ran right out of her flip flops. Later saying there was a foul odor. I remember stories from my dad of the Skunk Ape. My dad has always told stories about the Skunk Ape, Bigfoot since I was a girl. My dad never tells a lie. He's a true Florida born native he hunted barefoot with a slingshot, gun or older he jokes by cars. I am always on the look out for the elusive Bigfoot here in Florida or my summer trips to the mountains of Tennessee. So when chance gives me the oppurtunity to tell my family about the Skunk Ape I am carrying on the long standing tradition in my family of storytelling.
In Florida we have something called The Skunk Ape they are in the same family as Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Abominable Snowman, Boggy Creek Monster, Wild Man, Almas, Batutut, Fear liath, Hibagon, MonoGrande, Orang Mawas, Yeren, Yowie, Yeti and the Sassenach. The Skunk Ape is named for its appearance & strong stench. Some people have compared the foul stench to a skunk rolling around in a dumpster.
The sun has dipped below the horizon leaving an illumination in the sky. Not completely dark or lit the twilight hour is here. An unbearable heat with a slight breeze attracts the biggest mosquitoes. Birds softening their calls to a whisper fetching babies home for the night. Alligators entering the swampy creek water hoping for last minute parched animals at the edge. This is when the Skunk Ape wakes to hunt. A trail of Lima beans or string of apples can attract one, but it can be difficult. Reports have been documented since the 1970’s and film captures are extremely rare. One lady who wished to remain anonymous mailed the pictures into a local Post Office.
If you are luck enough to encounter the Florida Skunk Ape do not run. Stand still and note your surroundings, time of day, weather and please remember to take pictures.

The Jersey Devil is one of America’s most famous cryptids (and yes, they made a figure of Bigfoot in Series 1). The figure kind of resembles some of its descriptions, though there are so many differen ideas of what it looks like that it works. Interestingly, New Jersey’s Pine Barrens are a genuine wilderness, and if I were a secretive monster, I’d hide there. Or in Alaska.

First catalogued in the 1500s, the Sea Monk is similar to the Bishop Fish. Playing off the theory that A: every kind of person has acess to the Gospel, and B: There are people under the sea, it was thus assumed by many (seriously?) that fish had clergy, too. The Bishop Fish has a few catalogued appearances, including one legend where it made the sign of the cross at the Pope. But the Sea Monk is more clearly verified to the point where we know that those sailors certainly saw something. But what?
The predominant theories are that it could have been a squid - note the classic artwork, and squint a little, and you can see a squid's shape. It has also theorized to have been an angel shark, which looks kind of weird at first glance. Others imagine that it could be one of several types of seal, though those lack creedence.
Now, this figure, although clearly patterned after classic Sea Monk art, was actually labeled "Rahab: and named for a Mythical Jewish sea serpent that governed the Nile. Rahab appears a few times in the Bible as a poetic condemnation of Egypt or Pride (See, "The Lord crushed Rahab"), as well as being the name of the prostitute who harbored Israelite slaves in jericho. Rahab the woman and Rahab the monster are not related at all.

“Faeries are nice beings, they grant wishes. Right?” – Unknown
While some certainly do nice things and some may even grant wishes; others still play harmless pranks to fool the mortals they encounter.
To most the fae are mischievous tricksters on the surface and no true threat. However the fae hierarchy stretches and grows like the roots of the oldest trees in the forest and for every bit of light and shimmer as branches raise high in the sky; there is dark and shadow as roots dig deep into the earth.
The Duskfall Court is the seat of shadow and where pranks are rarely harmless. Those who abide by its laws find themselves watched over by the nobility of the court.
Those who tread these woods best watch out because the woods watch back and will not hesitate to ensnare the unwary.
The Duskfall Court is sponsored by Quills & Curiosities and Cryptid

Emerging from the misty depths of an ancient pine forest stands a creature both comical and awe-inspiring: a towering, humanoid pug cloaked in dense, shaggy fur. Its posture is upright, formidable — like a cryptid born of legend — yet its wrinkled, expressive pug face betrays a strange gentleness beneath the beastly form. Glowing amber eyes burn softly in the forest gloom, reflecting intelligence and age. A heavy brow furrows with stoic resolve, and in its massive paw, it clutches a gnarled, broken branch like a makeshift staff — a primitive totem of forest rule.
The creature’s fur bristles in the pale light filtering through the high canopy, every strand rendered with near-tactile realism. The forest around it is eerily still — a cathedral of towering trunks and drifting fog — as if nature itself holds its breath in reverence. Fallen leaves and moss muffle the ground beneath its colossal feet, leaving behind only the soft crunch of twigs and the whisper of wind. It is the guardian of forgotten trails, a myth walked into flesh — Bigfoot, reborn in the image of a pug.
This is a tree dwelling elf, they have long bendy limbs that are very strong. They need to have them because they hang from the twigs and the branches of trees from the day they are born
