This is my attempt at linoleum carving.. I bought a bunch of printing supplies when I last ordered stuff from blick and decided to give it a try last night.. I am fairly pleased with how it came out.. I made 5 copes.. 1 for Kristen 1 for me and the rest for my family ...so its an extremely limited edition run... remember that when I am famous years from now and you see one on sale on ebay from someone who isn't one of those people I mentioned.. ITS A BOOTLEG !!! hahaha

I used to have an air freshner hanging from the rear view mirror of my old VW Polo years ago (what a great little eager donkey of a car, that was). Sadly, it got a bit squashed (the skull and crossbones, not the car), so when I found this on eBay recently, I knew I had to roll back the years and get a new one!

It didn't show up as well as I'd like on this photo, but I love the skull soul effigy carving on this gravestone - and the two little crossed bones above its head too. This was taken in a Long Island cemetery (the name escapes me).
The full inscription (as best I can make it out) says:

Of M. Sarah Titus
Wife to Capt. John Titus

17th or 18th century gravestone (hard to tell the date, it was so weathered), St John's kirkyard, Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire.
My interpretation of the Jolly Roger, skull and crossbones, concept using a collage of photographs taken by me. The smoke trails have been manipulated in photoshop to create bone like structures and this is one of a series of similar images available in just about any colour or combination of colours that you can imagine.
