The letters are Tunisian crochet for a change. They flowed off the hook surprisingly easily. I had to rip out and redo very little of it. Surprising because letters are the ultimate shaping challenge.
Crocheted with two strands held together throughout except the letters. I had a white and cream on hand at the time I started swatching, so they’re a strand of each color.
The background came together smoothly too. The pattern repeats happened to correspond really nicely with the number of letters and their spacing. (It wasn’t planned, it was just the first exploratory swatch to remember how to do the stitch pattern.)
So, to be able to start with the deep inky black yarn in my dark, dark mood and JUST KEEP GOING, up through colors that gradually brightened and lightened, and to end up with something I like to look at and show others, has been the best gift this week. Color therapy.
If this remains a poster, maybe a bottom edge of fat tassels is in order, and a tassel at each end of a hanging dowel? Otherwise this could turn into a pillow top. Or, mounted on the front of a black tote bag like I originally pictured.
These are the same Bling Bam Bangles as the crochet pattern I just released but I used more sequined strands (and therefore a slightly larger crochet hook).
It's easier to tell the difference in person. (A lot of the bling doesn't really show up in photos.)
One of my favorites to crochet, look at, and wear. "Luckyslip" fingerless mitt: 100% crocheted of Bosnian slip stitch and ribbing.
Shows a type of stretchy eyelet pattern I experimented with, which looks better while being worn.
Yarn: MadelineTosh Vintage. Four plies, high S-twist. Pearly and glowing stitch definition. Smooth satiny finish is heightened by the dye technique, which looks sprayed. Most of the color is on the surface of the yarn, and the inner core of the yarn is undyed (white). This amplifies a satiny look. The high S-twist keeps the plies from looking stringy and untwisted when crocheted (the surface dyeing could otherwise really spotlight every separating ply!)
