The Nonius Cowl is a chunky textured cowl which can also be a twisted cowl or moebius worked in the round. It is quick and easy to make using this PDF crochet pattern, a bulky 12ply yarn of your choice and an 8mm crochet hook.
You could use any aran or bulky yarn to make this cowl as gauge doesn’t matter.

The Flying Bird Pin Crochet Pattern is the second in my series of bird patterns.
Using 1/3 skein (approximately 30 yards) of light worsted weight yarn, F hook/3.75mm or equivalent (slightly smaller than recommended for yarn), the Flying Bird's body approx 2.75”, Wings 2.25” Tail 1.5”
The other materials needed are a small amount of fiberfill or other stuffing,
beads, round head pins or shiny black thread or thin yarn for eyes, a pin back, yarn needle and (optional) a small amount of embroidery thread for nose, neck markings, tail markings.

Sleeve seam: 15 cm
7 - 7 - 8 - 8 - 8 balls Linnen or Linnen Deluxe 50g balls
4 mm (No. 8) and 5mm (No. 6) needles.
Tension: 14 stitches to 10cm in width over pattern on 5mm needles and 2 strands of yarn knitted together.
Yarn is used double throughout - two strands knitted together.
