In 1972, both political parties decided to have their conventions on Miami Beach. I guess that a lot of cities, having seen the riots and bad publicity to come out of the 1968 DNC convention in Chicago, elected not to bid for 1972. It worked out well for me. I got credentialed to shoot for the Broward County (FL) Republican Party. That got me inside the RNC convention.
Many of these shots in this series are scanned from old 35mm contact proofs or 3x5 machine prints. They were not selected for their quality, but rather as a time capsule of the way national party conventions used to be, before they became "coronations" of presidential candidates who already had the nomination in their pockets..

For the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the larger homeland security enterprise, the coming years hold the potential for significant change. While broad shifts in the structure or mission of the homeland security enterprise are unlikely, there are a number of specific areas in which tangible advances can be made. These include cyber threat information sharing, enterprise screening and credentialing, border security intelligence and information sharing, and investment planning and execution. Yet in order for needed progress to occur on these issues, policymakers and planners must have a clear vision for the future and an understanding of desired strategic outcomes. To offer perspectives on the complex systems dynamics of the homeland security enterprise, CSIS is collaborating with MITRE, operator of the DHS’s Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HS SEDI) FFRDC, to characterize key crosscutting homeland security enterprise missions and frame transformational outcomes for the Department. You are invited to an on-the-record conference on October 30, 2012 in order to foster a dialogue regarding strategic visions for the homeland security enterprise in these areas and explore how these visions might be implemented.

It was cold in New York City on 3-December-2007 for the premiere of Sweeny Todd and so the red carpet outside the Ziegfeld Theater was inside a heated tent.
Tim Burton didn’t spend a lot of time outside with the fans that night. This is his silhouette projected on the tent walls by the flash of the credentialed photographers lucky enough to be inside that evening.
A professional photographer paid me quite the complement for this photograph calling it, “Hands down the most creative shot I have seen in a while.” www.confessionsofapaparazzi.com/2007/12/attend-tale-of-sw...

The Albright Institute is an intensive, three-week program during Wintersession at Wellesley College.
During the first two weeks, Wellesley College faculty from a diverse range of departments will provide insight into various global policy issues. Each afternoon, credentialed alumnae and practitioners from various fields will provide real-world context for theories, concepts, and ideas. Small groups will study an issue and jointly propose solutions to the problem.
In this picture we see Rajul Pandya Lorch '85 (Chief of Staff for the Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute; Head of the IFPRI’s 2020 Vision for Food, Agriculture, and the Environmental Initiative) talking to Albright Fellows after her lecture on improving global food an nutritional security.
