Simple Creatures at Music Hall of Williamsburg (Brooklyn, NY) on April 1, 2019

Clever creature creations seen at Soda Dam in New Mexico. At such time as I get a lawn/garden, I may have to make my own.

Andrew Bell is one of my favorite artists--he has a website called Creatures in My Head, and he just draws random little creatures. He's always really nice at shows, and I have a couple of other sketches from him, from before I started this sketchbook.

Fursuiters please credit Mikepaws when posting, thanks!

Ito also included this pair of mermaid illustrations in Kinka Gyofu with no apparent effort to distinguish them from the hundreds of other known fish and sea animals pictured in the book.

The hideous creature next to dear, sweet Paddington is the mascot of a chain of low-class gas stations here in Texas. When I brought him home at approximately 0130, Paddington’s head almost exploded. “This is a chupacabra!” screamed Paddington. “They eat the souls of Peruvian Bears. We need to kill it, now!”

Paddington explained to me that when he lived in London, he was a “chav” bear and a bit of a football hooligan. “I know how to get rid of a body as well as any London bear.” snorted Paddington. “Fetch me a shovel and some quick lime.”

This edition of Creature Feature at the East Lake Branch Library features Lurleen the Leopard Gecko. Participants learn a few fun facts about Lurleen and then make a fun craft to take home.

In the distant past, long before the natural entrance was sealed, an unfortunate creature fell into the sinkhole leading to the caverns. Once trapped underground with no way out it was faced with a slow death. The fragmentary skeletal remains of a Giant Ground Sloth (Glossotherium harlani) were found when the cave was explored. Giant Ground Sloths became extinct between 11,000 and 20,000 years ago. This model was created to show what the living sloth would have looked like in life. "Gertie" is 15 feet tall and it’s estimated that the living sloth would have weighed approximately 2,000 pounds.

Under the SEM. This is a foram, or foraminifera, tiny ocean-living creatures that can be used to study paleoclimatology. I think this guy is from a deep sea core.

This work was made with support from the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.

The creatures are animatronic, and move when approached, or if their button is pressed. They are charging via solar panels which get enough light from the gallery lights to keep them at full power during the show.

This picture is about post nuclear society, when strange creatures will live everywhere. Several of them may be born nowa days, some where nearby the oil waste products.
