"Tiny, unusual creatures are easy to find," explained Cassis. "You just have to look for tiny, unusual holes."

"Will Tahu find the humility and patience to earn deeper knowledge of fire and learn that not everything can be taken by force?"
Fourth creature of the series to make the G2 creatures into large and powerful elemental masters. Ikir came to completion in one day after I began tinkering with his head design. It's a good feeling when a moc comes together straightforwardly.
As usual, I recycled the head, but gave the creature different eyes from the rest. Boat studs made for great bird eyes in this case.
With Ikir, I thought that Tahu's challenge is basically the fact that he can't reach the flying bird. Assuming Tahu is fairly hot tempered, his trial is to learn that he can't simply force and take everything he wants. Instead, with Ikir, he must learn to earn, wait, give and compromise until he finds the connection he needs with Ikir.

This is Wash, all 80 Lbs. He has his head in his mommies hobby bag. He's sleeping. He's snoring like a D8 Cat pushing a load of rock. This corner of the couch is his, just ask him. I have no idea why he is face down in a bag. The blankets are his and his sisters.

God from eternity, decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any wise to be the author or approver of sin nor to destroy the free agency and responsibility of intelligent creatures

I really wanted this build to feel very alien. The dark orange ground with the strange alien creatures slowly infecting the land and everything around it. The vibrant green river flowing between the legs of the elevated research station, and some strange yet familiar looking plant life.
The base of this build is 2m x 1.2m and the tower sits at about 1.3m high. This is definitely the tallest build I have ever done and definitely one of my largest. So big that i couldn’t fit it all infringe of my backdrop… luckily I was talking to a fellow exhibitor called Jacqui that offered to help with photoshopping the background to white. I think she did an amazing job with it and I truly appreciate the help, the build simply wouldn’t of looked as nice.
I really enjoyed figuring out the best ways to make all the curves and experimenting with different ways to get the toxic green of the river.
I really wanted to experiment with some lighting and a couple motorised features for this build. I wanted to limit myself to official lego products mainly because I am a lego purist and I really enjoy the challenge that the official lego electronics provide. I used one M motor for the mechanism for the black alien creatures in the ground to make them look like they were breathing, 10 lego power functions LEDs, 1 classic lego LED unit for the flashing lights on the cargo ship and 7 lego power functions extension cables. All of this powered by 1 power functions battery unit. I had a lot of fun trying to hide all these components and yet still be easy to access like the hidden button for the power and a hidden drawer for easy access to the batteries.

The battery stealer
This little creature is always looking for new sources of energy to recharge itself. Very often, it tends to steal batteries from other electrical devices... infuriating those who use them.

Side porch of an aging house in the downtown area. A place to chat with the passersby.
I couldn't resist taking this shot, even though I know there a lot of sky/sunset shots out there from far more picturesque locations than my kitchen window!
The cloud momentarily looked rather like some kind of cartoonish creature running across the sky...
As a side note, I know the processing may not to be all's taste, but it's surprisingly close to what was actually there. London can manage some pretty good skies when it puts it's mind to it.
While I am working on a series of shots in a 1:1 (square) format, I couldn't do so for this pair of African Wild Dogs that I spotted during my visit to South Africa.
According to our guide, any attempts at domesticating these creatures has failed (apparently they show affection by biting each other). They have also been seen as a nuisance to farmers and ranchers given their predatory nature. Efforts are underway to protect these creatures in a way that works for all.

We were the first ones to walk down the beach after the tide went out. About a half mile into our walk, we came across this expansive curious cross-hatch pattern of cast out sand from some kind of community of creatures. It seems they were all "keeping house" after the receding sea. It looks like they came up slinging sand either front to back or side to side, and not in a radial fashion
I dug into a few of them, but found nothing. My guess is sand fleas - little shrimp-like crustaceans. Any guesses? Anyone know the responsible party?

As I was sitting here at my computer tonight working on some photos this little guy flew up and landed on the desk next to me. I was able to get him to crawl onto a white sheet of paper and take a few photos of him before he flew off on his way. I've got no clue as to what species he is so if anyone knows what he's called please tell me I'd appreciate it. I'm really starting to love macro photography and how much detail it lets you see in the world of small things.
*Edit- After looking around online I might have identified the species. I think it's Crambus leachellus although I could be wrong.
