Design Thinking places anchored concepts upon a time-line of activities that can range from intervals of seconds to years.

In the heart of Scandinavia, amidst the whispering pines and the gentle caress of the northern wind, there unfolds a tale of earth and artistry. This series captures the essence of a young potter, whose hands breathe life into clay, shaping it into forms as ancient as time and as fresh as a morning dew. From the initial caress of raw earth to the triumphant emergence of creation, we trace her journey through moments of passion, introspection, and serene completion. Welcome to "Clay Whispers: A Potter's Journey," a visual ode to the timeless dance between creator and creation.

Poem:

In the grasp of her hands, clay turns and twists,

Ancient whispers caught in modern mist.

Beneath her fingers, stories unfold,

Of warmth, of courage, bold yet untold.

In the glow of the kiln, dreams take flight,

Shadows dance in the flickering light.

Each piece, a fragment of her soul's song,

In clay, she finds where her heart belongs.

As the wheel spins, so do the days,

In her art, the echo of nature's ways.

With every touch, a world comes alive,

In the dance of clay, her spirit thrives.

Haiku:

Clay beneath her touch,

Whispers of earth, air, and fire,

Art in motion blooms.

Design Thinking implicitly is holistic in its process and explicitly holistic in its actions.

Mia Nolting is a Portland-based artist, illustrator and designer. She filled this Scout Book with page after page of illustration, collage, typography and musings. We're impressed.

The Scout Book cover was designed by Bwana Spoons, another Portland-based artist.

What do you fill your Scout Books with? Share the creative goodness that takes place in your 32-page pocket notebooks and add your images to our flickr pool: Show Us Your Scout Book Flickr Pool.

Stay tuned: we interviewed Mia for our soon-to-be-released Scout Books blog! Awesome!

Design Thinking has a steady pulse of consistency and change.

working process on Idiom Series

I liked the look of these in the morning sun, but it was a bit too blue/cyan for me, so I adjusted the colors and saturation with a overlay black & white layer in Photoshop. Then I played with the exposure to increase the contrast and accentuate the highlights and shadows of the stacks.

Design Thinking acts as an axis of information in navigating through our internal creative landscapes.

Design Thinking is a model-making machine in that it stimulates internal ‘Gestalt Flips’ to create fresh mental models.

It seems "the gray times" are here. Time for a transition, a mental and physical hibernation of sorts. Gotta get into the groove of coming up with indoor subjects to take photos of. My wife bought some clementine oranges, which are one of her favorite snacks, so I put them in a bowl on our kitchen table and I am trying to start my transition.

Details: Three shots merged to HDR in Photoshop, added a B&W adjustment layer, selectively colored, applied a lens blur gradient, a light diffuse glow, and used levels to add a darker transparent border.

Design Thinking has a process that is flexible in its form.

Design Thinking is not a name, it is sentence.

Design Thinking calls for a meta-language to liberate, not limit, our exploration of topics.

Design Thinking is scenarios thinking.

Design Thinking works to create what is not there, yet.

This is the 2nd accessory for Mary's Garden. I cut off the top of this old hat (found in the depths of my closet), and added more [plant tags to fit in with the colorful garden theme of the ensemble.

Design Thinking has an impact on our internal worlds as much as on our external worlds.

The amazing Art Model Lucy Magdalene! She is such a joy to work with and helps bring out the best in a photoshoot.

My second time working with Lucy. This was so much fun. We shot at two locations over the course of the day with 4 wardrobe changes.

Our shoot was at a few abandoned places and putting Lucy in a vintage clothing and witch costume. Harold came along too and he's got some awesome shots of Lucy too!

Design Thinking plays within a world that has numerous influences acting on each intension.

A peak into how I came up with the acorn woodpecker. Unfortunately, the design plan is the first draft of two, so if you would like to see my design, send me a message and (maybe) I'll send you a copy... ;-)

Design Thinking fights the tendency for us to freeze our thoughts into objects and instead offers a function to morph these into alternative geometric, organic, and random shapes.
