"Wouldn't it be

wonderful? If my wide

hips were wanted - there

there that part there

looked at with wonder?

"I remember a drunk man

once drawled, 'I like

your hips' and I thought

'that is the oddest thing

I have ever heard...

because don't you know

they are unlikeable

and unappealing?"

6x12cm Cigar Box Pinhole Test // Roll 1 ~

I'm experimenting with a new 6x12 cigar box pinhole camera I recently made ~ it gets 3 exposures per 1 roll of 120 film. I'll post an image of the camera once I'm done with it.

Sorry about the bad scan. This is just a test shot, so I didn't want to spend a lot of time messing with the post processing.

"Yeah and CK, do you think you could get your hand out of the way next time you make the exposure???" ~ sorry people. I have a few more alterations to the camera before I'm happy with it's operation. What you're seeing in the top right is part of the wood from the box. I need to sand/grind that down... think of this as a work in progress.

Pin wall with current work, Idiom Series

Nancy is going to model "Mary's Garden" in the November fashion show. Luckily she also lives nearby and can come over for fittings frequently. The hat is completed, but I have since changed the ribbon sunflower straps into plant tag straps.

The bodice is made completely of recycled plastics: plant tags and 1 lid to a butter tub. The lime green edging is wool yarn from my studio. I used the common blanket stitch. I used my wood burning tool to make tiny holes along the bodice edges for the yarn to go through. A lot of patience and time spent.

Now I must work on the skirt, which will be made of blue newspaper plastic bags, and green astroturf. The ensemble is 99% made of recycled plastics and plastic household materials...all found, and upcycled. Nothing bought, nothing new except for 29 cent flip flops for Nancy the model...from a end of summer sale at Micheals arts and Crafts. even those will be changed and embellished with recycled trash to become a 4th accessory.

The other 2 required accessories are finished, and shown throughout the flickr set titled ""Mary's Garden" Fashion Ensemble ~ Dress & 3 Accessories"

In the heart of Scandinavia, amidst the whispering pines and the gentle caress of the northern wind, there unfolds a tale of earth and artistry. This series captures the essence of a young potter, whose hands breathe life into clay, shaping it into forms as ancient as time and as fresh as a morning dew. From the initial caress of raw earth to the triumphant emergence of creation, we trace her journey through moments of passion, introspection, and serene completion. Welcome to "Clay Whispers: A Potter's Journey," a visual ode to the timeless dance between creator and creation.

Poem:

In the grasp of her hands, clay turns and twists,

Ancient whispers caught in modern mist.

Beneath her fingers, stories unfold,

Of warmth, of courage, bold yet untold.

In the glow of the kiln, dreams take flight,

Shadows dance in the flickering light.

Each piece, a fragment of her soul's song,

In clay, she finds where her heart belongs.

As the wheel spins, so do the days,

In her art, the echo of nature's ways.

With every touch, a world comes alive,

In the dance of clay, her spirit thrives.

Haiku:

Clay beneath her touch,

Whispers of earth, air, and fire,

Art in motion blooms.

as seems to happen a lot, this series started out as something else entirely--in fact, it was just going to be a one-off image. my original model had to cancel, but i really wanted to shoot while i had access to this space.

so i set about thinking, and through machinations i can't remember, got to thinking about the creative process, and how we all start with a sort of blank slate (literally and figuratively) and go from there. and as i thought about it some more, i realized this vast, empty space could serve as a visual representation.

only catch was that i had just under a week to find people to actually do this. miraculously, i was able to pull it off, and by thursday of that week, i had all five models lined up and ready to go.

what these pictures won't really convey is just how hot it was--we were in the middle of a run of hot days. i think it topped out at 98 the day we were shooting. and this place, while amazing visually, has no AC or anything. heck, not even a good cross breeze. so we had to work fast, since after about 10 minutes, the sweat started setting in, and making things generally uncomfortable. but we got it all in, and everyone i worked with was a real trooper.

jarel's trumpet sounded really cool reverberating throughout the room. haunting, but in a good way.

This tool tower is actually a 2 tier rolling kitchen turn table from Wal Mart in stainless steel...so I can also use it as a display piece for craft shows). Note...magnet hooks stick to it! Yay!

On Top of that is a vintage 1950s candy aluminum 3 tiered dish...also can use for shows....and has all my clamps for holding glued creations while they dry.

The felt ornament cost $1.00 at Cost Plus World Market Place 2 days after Christmas.

Design Thinking works to create concept-nets (schema) through the process of at least two levels of abstraction; this first level of abstraction is when we move from the level of specific examples (three or more) to the level of our first common concept, which in turn allows us to gather many additional ideas beneath this extracted concept; the second level of abstraction is when we move from a collection of common concepts (each formed from a collection of specific ideas) to a higher level of a meta-concept, which in turn allows us to gather many additional concepts and it is here at this second level of abstraction that we can give a name to the concept net.

A 20 sec exposure, post processed with the Star Trail Scripts [bit.ly/15ESYYH] for the Time Warp Effect. This was from taken during the huge sun storm last week[03 18 2015]. Wish the storm had pushed the KP to 8+ like it did during the day. But since I was still literally at the border of Wisconsin & Illinois with a KP of 6, the aurora activity was pretty week. The light pollution did not help much either. The Aurora activity was not very prominent to the naked eye, but my trusted 7D was able to capture some of the same :)
