a little sparkle for Sliders Sunday and New Year's Eve!

Luke Ramsey is awesome. He creates beautiful, intricate pieces of artwork that include zines, murals, paintings and prints. He also runs Islands Fold, an independent publisher and artist residency in B.C., Canada.

We ran into Luke last summer at the Portland Zine Symposium, and saw him sketching in a Scout Book! Quickly gave him another, and within weeks he had filled it up and sent us images. At long last, here is what the fantastic Luke Ramsey did with the 32 grid pages of a Scout Book.

Awesome! Thanks, Luke.

Pine cones through the centuries have been used to represent many things... here's to hope and happiness in the New Year.

Sliders Sunday

Felt empty, miserable, wet and alone. Forced myself to continue despite a bout of self-pity. Just like smiling, creating any circular shape makes me happy.

Recently discovered self-portrait taken in 2019 during COVID, experimenting with facial hair. The image was created by shaping a single-source light into a noir-style low-key study.

Trying for a new take on a familiar scene that never grows old on a trail we've hiked many times.

Happy Sliders Sunday

This is my newest camera in my collection. It takes 120 roll film and yields 8-12 exposures. Made in my kitchen on 02.03.06. ~ 220 film compatible

Apparence de confusion dans l’atelier: des nouveaux travaux en chantier à un stade très préliminaire rencontrent des œuvres finies qui devront être entreposées suite à la conclusion d’une exposition.

Apparent confusion in the studio: new material at an exploratory stage meets finished work that will need to be stored at the conclusion of an exhibition.

This Friday will be the first official Friday where many of my friends will be off to work and I will be on the other side of the fence, staying home. The best part of this is knowing I have the full month of September to enjoy summerlike weather still, instead of hoping my weekends are good enough for hiking or camping. Happy Fence Friday everyone!

I keep thniking of how our lives have become like torn pages of some surreal setting in a novel.

So I set out to create a feeling of torn pages in this image.

Happy Slider Sunday and know this novel will end one day!

Low-key lighting is a style of lighting for film and photography with an emphasis on shadows. That's certainly a medium I enjoy working with and really enjoy making shadows in my photography..

Snow squalls happen when the air temperature drops and the wind blows over the warmer waters of the Great Lakes. This is our first snowfall, which is gone now, but more in the forecast. Happy Sliders Sunday!

I love trees, what can I say? Trying for a little glamour kind of glow in this woodland.

Happy Crazy Tuesday!
