Laura, our rad-tastic Director of Operations, shows us what 50 Scout Books looks like.
That blue shirt of hers goes really well with orange...
Thanks Laura!
This great Scout Book project comes to us from the people over at Aha! agency in celebration of their fourth anniversary. Located in Austin, TX, they specialize in branding + fresh perspectives and wanted to give their clients, friends, and fans a special kind of thank-you for their support. I think this Scout Book is perfect for the job! Printed in orange and brown, complete with a belly band (you know we love a good belly band) and custom interiors – turning four in 2010 never looked better!
Who wouldn't love to be surprised by this useful little notebook? Well, Nick Disabato, author of Cadence & Slang, a book about interaction design backed with funding from Kickstarter, is giving all his backers a great little surprise! I think that's pretty nice of him. I also think a book about interaction design is a pretty great idea!
These all entries were designed for a online grocery shop CtgGrocer .
Thanks

Cap height, ascender, bowl, serif, baseline: there are a lot of things to keep track of when designing letterforms! The Type Sketcher trio of pocket notebooks helps you stay on track as you design. This set features one book for uppercase, one book for lowercase, and one book for numerals, punctuation and symbols. Each book comes with a brief but informative guide to the basics of type design that serve as gentle guides for beginners and helpful reminders for seasoned type designers.
This trio of pocket tools was developed in partnership with Ian Lynam, in hopes that type designers everywhere keep sketching!
Mia Christopher sent us three Scout Books brimming with juicy, colorful stuff. She brightened our week, and we hope that checking out this series of expertly experimental illustration has brightened yours. This Scout Book is the third in a series of three; be sure to see the first and second.
Itching to own Mia's work for yourself? Find it online at Arrow to Arrow, Renegade Handmade, and at Little Paper Planes. There are some original paintings in there that I'm eyeing...
Thank you to Mia for sharing the insides of her Scout Books with us!
Behr needed to introduce a new mixable samples product to the consumer in a unique way. The fixture had to hold 175 pounds of merchandise, display three unique paint finishes and reinforce consumer project aspirations.

Check out this neat holiday package that Beardwood&Co sent out to their clients this year. Scout Books are totally friends with mini-pencils.
Formerly known as Polychrome San Francisco, Standard Studio has launched its new identity and website, and included in the new launch is this fantastic Scout Book.
Standard is a small firm whose members share a common point of view and a common inspiration in utilitarian design. This Scout Book is the culmination of all these things. It was inspired by an old WWII canvas bag with the words "bag for inserting dies and No. 4 grommets" on the front. Standard loved the idea of applying the same approach to their books, thus the copy on their Scout Book. The word is that the books have already been a big hit.
Yesterday Hannah was struck by an idea and ten minutes later, BOOM! We had the Scout Book mini.
CUTE, right?
This little guy is still in the development stage, but we're working to roll it out as a micro publishing format soon.
A little book for big ideas.
What would you do with an itty-bitty pocket sized book?
NYC's OPEN Design makes fabulous work. Add the Scout Book to that roster, ladies and gentlemen.
This Scout Book was designed by Open for the US Initiative. The Us Initiative is a part of the urban re-invention projects organized by CEO's for Cities.
Open is an independent design studio in New York. They work on everything from identity systems, print, motion and web.
The US Initiative is spearheaded by CEO's for Cities. It is a national initiative to 'redefine the American Dream' by using the talents of the large percentage of people living in cities to improve life for everyone.

The perfect Scout Book for the first post of the New Year! Astro Studios created these books to be sent out to their clients, colleagues and fans in order to promote a more creative 2011! Besides the great cover design comprised of sketches and doodles from Astros talented designers, these Scout Books are fully custom inside with a dot grid interior – a perfect unobtrusive guide for any sketcher. Packaged together with pencils and a note, Astro Studios supplied a "stylish place to sketch [ideas]... and start feeling better about the more prolific you."
Jason Duerr is Dropkick Design. He created this terrific poster that really speaks to winter in Portland!
These beautiful Scout Books feature illustrations of New York City's skyline from four different vantage points.
Lovely.
Friends of Graphic Design is a student group at Portland State University. They created these Scout Books as a fundraising and promotional tool. They feature artwork by students Sarah Baugh and Nicole Lavelle.

Tara Hogan designed this terrific folded poster for CNY Yoga Center. I'm thoroughly impressed with the many functions this one print project serves: it's a mailer, an informational brochure, a membership form, a calendar, and a lovely poster with great illustration. Nice job, Tara!
The Industrial Design Society of America went all out with a three-pack of custom interior Scout Books, complete with a pull out section! They were created by Ziba for an IDSA “cross-craft” discussion about DIY design held right here in Portland, Oregon. The three-pack consists of one part sweet Portland city guide, one part informative conference/symposium particulars, and one part handy, blank sketchbook.
Fun, funky work from Amy Martino! Amy is a NYC based graphic designer and illustrator, and her bright, textured work has us swooning.
She dressed this Scout Book up in ways we've never seen! Hot pink and neon green paper? Yes, please.
Oh yes, and metallic gold. Don't forget about the metallic gold.
