this year I am going to grow 8 varieties:

and Alegria (Early maincrop or Second Early)
all from Fruit Hill Farm in Cork. In Northern Ireland we can no longer buy seed potatoes by mail order from Great Britain since Brexit so have had to change the habit of last couple of decades. I have to say that I have been very impressed with Fruit Hill Farm in terms of range and service and have been buying quite a few plants and seeds from them.

An array of Saturn images depict real data from multiple filters mapped onto the RGB colors perceptible to the human eye. Each filter combination emphasizes the subtle differences in cloud altitude or composition. Infrared spectra from the Cassini mission suggested that Saturn’s aerosol particles may have even more complex chemical diversity than on Jupiter.

« Jean Dubuffet est un peintre et un sculpteur connu pour être le fondateur du mouvement de l’art brut. Sa fascination pour l’art des non-initiés, plus particulièrement celui réalisé par les enfants, les malades et ceux pour qui n’ont pas de références culturelles et artistiques, l’incite à imiter leur style pour l’incorporer dans le sien. Né Jean Philippe Arthur Dubuffet le 31 juillet 1901 au Havre, Dubuffet étudie à l’Académie Julian avec Raoul Dufy, Suzanne Valadon et Fernand Léger en 1918, mais quitte sa formation après six mois. Il retourne à l’art au début des années 1940 et forme la Compagnie de l’Art Brut (1948 – 1951, restaurée en 1962) avec André Breton, Slavko Kopac, entre autres. Il meurt le 12 mai 1985 à Paris à l’âge de 83 ans et la Fondation Jean Dubuffet, créée en 1973 dans le Val-de-Marne, continue de présenter ses œuvres. »

This image of the Phoenix cluster combines data from NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, and NRAO's Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope and shows how the supermassive black hole at the center promotes large amounts of star formation, instead of hinders it.
X-rays from Chandra depict extremely hot gas in purple. Optical light data from Hubble show galaxies in yellow, and filaments of cooler gas where stars are forming in light blue.
Outburst-generated jets, represented in red, are seen in radio waves by the VLA. As the jets push outward, they inflated cavities, or bubbles, in the hot gas that pervades the cluster.
New observations from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope trace the cooling gas along those cavities, which enables the Phoenix cluster to form stars at such a high rate.

Winslow Homer (1836–1910) is regarded as one of the greatest American painters of the 19th century. Homer utilized both oil and watercolor in depicting 19th century American Sea and landscapes and the daily life's of those who inhabited it. He was sent to work as an artist-correspondent for the new popular illustrated journal Harper’s Weekly in 1861. We have digitally enhanced many of his beautful artworks including “the Gulf Stream”, “Croquet Scene”, “Northeaster” and many more. They are all free to download and enjoy under the CC0 license.

Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) was a French post-impressionist painter, printmaker, and the leader of the Intimist art movement. He was known for a painting style that was very intimate, featuring friends in a garden, nudes, interiors and sunlit objects of everyday life.

From the archives..... I made my friend bring his 100mm prime lens and I made use of it to click the entire set of images for that day. We found this spider web and we went ahead to click a few shots. I somehow wanted to shoot the web in a different light/angle and hence I moved around to get a side angle where the spider was lit from the back.
I was very pleased with the composition and in PP, I burnt out some of the highlights on the spider's body and also made some curves adjustment to bring this effect. Please let me know your comments & criticisms. Your constructive criticism helps me improve my skills. Thank you!!

"From the beginning, it was the snowlfakes that fascinated me most"
Dubbed as “Snowflake”, Wilson Alwyn Bentley (1865-1931) was a pioneer in snowflake photomicrography. As a child he was fascinated by the natural world, and by the age of 19 he became the first to successfully capture a snowflake photograph with the help of a feather, a microscope and a camera. Bentley photographed thousands of individual snow crystals during his career, some of which we are showcasing in this Public Domain collection. We have digitally enhanced these amazingly detailed photographs of these winter’s wonders for you do download and use under the CC0 license.
