ARCTIC OCEAN - Cheryl Benger, a baker on the crew of the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Louis S. St-Laurent, serves Barbara Moore, a scientist and member of the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf Task Force, a lobster tail during the 2009 Arctic Barbeque aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy Sept. 5.
The Arctic barbeque featured a “surf and turf” menu.
For the turf offerings, the Healy’s cooks prepared steak, chili and pulled pork.
The Canadians prepared smoked salmon, shrimp, scallops and lobster.
After the meal, the crews competed in the inaugural Arctic Olympics. Cribbage, foosball, air hockey and a number of interactive video games were just a few of the premier events.
The two ships have been taking part in a multi-year, multi-agency Arctic survey that will help define the Arctic continental shelf.

Hoaroak Cottage, 8th June 2013. Work had stopped due to the wet Spring weather, according to the sign.
Taken 16th September 2012.
Hoaroak Cottage, showing the scaffolding around it as preservation work takes place. Not long before, the roof was collapsing in, water had got into the limestone mortar walls, which were crumbling, and the window and door lintels had rotted, with masonry falling out from above. A few more years of neglect would have left it as a heap of rubble.
In the 1960's it was still perfectly habitable, although the trees have grown up a great deal since.

Taken at CBE....... Had seen this tree during the rounds and rounds of walking myself and my best half had done at this place. Had taken a note of this tree and finally got the time to take my camera out one day to shoot this image.
The barren nature and the light shining at the very top made me click this. The fact that the low angle made this tree look towering and I knew immediately that this has to be done in B&W for the maximum impact.
