Another from the archives...During Artprize 2015, we went into Long Road Distillery to see the art prize entries that were there. I was more interested in what was behind the big glass window. Don't know anything about distilling, except it looked really cool.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)

Visit to the Iron Fish Distillery (ironfishdistillery.com/) in Thompsonville, Michigan on Thursday May 3rd. Hosting the group were co-owners Richard Anderson & Sarah Anderson. From their site: "Iron Fish Distillery is Michigan’s first working farm solely dedicated to the practice of distilling small-batch craft spirits. Our family reclaimed a late 1890’s abandoned farmstead with a simple mission in mind: we create exceptional spirits from the ground up, growing our own grain and sourcing grain from Michigan farmers with practices that respect the health of nearby watersheds. Our true passion is to offer customers and visitors the craft of soil-to-spirit distilling from a family business that cares about our employees, community, and the living land." From the Government Relations site, "the Michigan Road Scholar Tour takes faculty of the University of Michigan (U-M) on a five-day traveling seminar on the State of Michigan. This educational tour exposes participants to the state’s economy, government and politics, culture, educational systems, health and social issues, history, and geography."

The number of distilleries in the UK has surged as craft gin continues to grow in popularity
Distilleries jumped 20 per cent to 246 over the last year, up from 205 the previous year, as the UK gin industry toasted a nine per cent increase in export sales to £672m in 2019
Consumers are willing to pay premium prices for craft gin, and the number of new entrants to the market has jumped in recent years.
Some entrepreneurs have been attracted to the spirits sector as they have recognised that big drinks firms are eying smaller “authentic brands”.
