Craft beer brewing is an important part of the Oregon economy and has put Portland especially on the map in terms of beer but there are hundreds of homebrew operations all across the city as well. Rob Ling and his friend Sean Foley of Above the Bar Brewing brew their own small batch beers out of their garage, growing their own hops and tweaking each batch to their taste. Sitting down to enjoy a brew at Clive's Classic Lounge "Cask Night", I found myself beside the two owners of the featured beer from Saltspring Island Ales, Becky & Neil. As I happened to have my handy recorder with me, I invited them for a quick interview and they happily obliged!

Along the shores of the mighty Columbia River Gorge, get a week-long lesson from some of the country’s craft brewing pioneers. From the hop farm to the mash tun to the microscope, you’ll feel, smell and taste beer from beginning to end. If you can tear yourself away from the tasting table, explore the charming town of Hood River, unofficial U.S. capitol of windsurfing, beer drinking and hanging out.
This studio capture of a pale ale beer glass combines simplicity with sophistication. The light cascades through the amber liquid, highlighting the carbonation and the frothy head's texture. While the shot revels in the beer's natural beauty, the stark backdrop and the dramatic lighting beg the question – what can be perfected in the pursuit of capturing the essence of a good brew?

Not what it used to be...the old Joseph Huber Brewing Company is pretty different than it used to be. Now this historical Wisconsin Brewing location produces a few Huber beers, some Berghoff names and thankfully still Blumers soda pop. Mihas is operated by a Canadian based business producing macro brew flavors with a craftbrew name. They sure use the term craftbrew loosely. I guess I shouldn't complain as it is still operating as a Wisconsin brewery business.
