Kali is the Mother from whom the universe emerged and to whom it must return. To her devotees, she is the Great Mother who nurtures and cares for them.

It is hard to see her as the mother. She stands strong, tongue out, with a severed head in one hand and she wears a garland of skulls around her neck.

She is the destroyer, the warrior who has blood on her hands - but in order to create, a mother also has to destroy - just like mother Nature and her cycles.

The Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, honors the courageous passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, who thwarted the hijackers' plans during the September 11 attacks in 2001. Established soon after the crash, the memorial features a temporary installation that evolved into a permanent site dedicated to the 40 victims, with its first phase completed and opened on September 10, 2011. Designed by Paul and Milena Murdoch, the memorial incorporates a modified version of their entry titled Crescent of Embrace, symbolizing the heroism displayed on that fateful day.
