The Blue and Yellow Macaw or the Blue and Gold Macaw (Ara ararauna), also known as the Yellow Breasted Macaw and the Blue Macaw, is a member of the macaw group of parrots.
It breeds in rain forests, open woodlands, river edges, and savannas of tropical South America from Panama, Trinidad and Venezuela south to Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.
The Blue and Yellow Macaws can reach 76 to 86 cm long and weigh 900 to 1300 gr.
They are vivid in appearance with blue wings and tail, black chin, yellow underparts and a green cap on the head. The naked face is white, turning pink in excited birds, and lined with small black feathers. Their beaks are jet black and very strong for crushing nuts.
This picture was taken during a free flight show in Diergaarde Blijdorp (Zoo Rotterdam, Netherlands).

Shot using one TTL Yongnuo speedlight behind a 33" umbrella fired with a YN622n...and a LOT of OFF...
This wasn't supposed to be a "couples shoot". Elizabeth brought Yamil, and they just looked so good together that I rolled with it and made it one. These two were perfect, and I've got the photos to prove it.
Welcome back to Flickr for Polaroid Week everybody. Can't wait to see what you all have been up to.

This couple was so sweet, it was definitely a first date it not pretty close to first date. I let them pass by because I wanted this photo to happen… very sweet!
Eurasian teals (Anas crecca) from the archive.
These are from the forest in town - a nice spot to meet them closer than many other places.
Just like mallards, the males have colourful heads and the females are brown. But the Eurasian teals are smaller, and their speculum feathers are green, while the mallards' are blue.

We had a couple of days in Lincoln attending a family wedding, on the way home we managed to grab a couple of hours at Doddington Hall (about 10 miles west of Lincoln) where they hold an annual sculpture exhibition, which was brilliant!
Here's the first of many shots.
I stupidly forgot to pick up a catalogue before I left so the titles and sculptors are now lost to me so be prepared for some inventive titling (is that a word?) :-)
