In this new view of the Andromeda galaxy from the Herschel space observatory, cool lanes of forming stars are revealed in the finest detail yet. Herschel is a European Space Agency mission with important NASA participation.
Andromeda, also known as M31, is the nearest major galaxy to our own Milky Way at a distance of 2.5 million light-years, making it an ideal natural laboratory to study star formation and galaxy evolution.
Sensitive to the far-infrared light from cool dust mixed in with the gas, Herschel seeks out clouds of gas where stars are born. The new image reveals some of the very coldest dust in the galaxy - only a few tens of degrees above absolute zero - colored red in this image.
By comparison, warmer regions such as the densely populated central bulge, home to older stars, take on a blue appearance.
Intricate structure is present throughout the 200,000-light-year-wide galaxy with star-formation zones organized in spiral arms and at least five concentric rings, interspersed with dark gaps where star formation is absent.
Andromeda is host to several hundred billion stars. This new image of it clearly shows that many more stars will soon to spark into existence.
There is so much I know nothing about - such as women, life, etc. - but especially cars. We were traveling through Tucson, AZ and read on Trip Advisor about a museum dedicated to Franklin cars. I had never heard of the museums or Franklins, but the write-ups made it sound like a cool place to visit - so we did - and both Heather and I are glad we did! What a lovely place to check out. It was a bit hard to find, in a residential section in a maze of one-way streets but we're glad we stuck to it. We were greeted by a volunteer guide that told us the history of the Franklin Motor Company - they were luxury autos from the 1920s to 1950s. The cars are in great shape - we wanted to go cruising in them. The guide told us it was a busy day for the museum - they had about 20 visitors. That is a shame - the place is fantastic and well worth the $5 admission. Check it out!! I took these photos in March 2014.
24 Apr. 2011 Keelan (14) has had enough of being disturbed by the camera and slouches off, showing the back-pockets of his very cool jeans.

Minimalist poster for one of favourite films; Cool Hand Luke starring Paul Newman, Dennis Hopper and George Kennedy.
Playing a guitar solo at one of Epcot's Flower Power Concerts is hard work. Paul Revere shows how much he cares for his band mates by cooling off Doug Heath after some hot licks.

I found these two ladies cooling their heels (literally) to get some respite from the heat! The red shoes added a bit of color.

I really like this photo of Wesley taken by the pool at Rick's parents.
I like the angle of it, the blue water behind him, and the overall brightness of it.
Wesley is one cool puppy!
Just finally updated my blog and realized I hadn't added anything to here in forever, so while I had some nice ready-to-post photo's I might as well put them here too... so glad it's Christmas break. Finally able to get caught up on things. I started school this fall and totally fell off into the sidelines trying to adjust to school life again.
Did my first newborn shoot. This is the baby that was still "baking in the oven" of the maternity shoot I did. She was a total character and super cute. It was fun. Helps that her parents are really cool.
