We did it! We got the shot! The holiday shoot today didnât go quite as smoothly as weâd hoped it would, but we managed to adapt and get what we needed. Weâd planned several alternative plans of action for situations in which we got a TON of people and for if almost nobody came. However, we didnât anticipate Scrappy showing up an hour late. By the time we started getting everyone situated, they were already starting to get peeved.
Our first full take went really well. I shouted PERFECT through the radio, and then requested one more take for safety. Apparently, thatâs when they all turned on me. Luckily, we did get an even better take the second time, but nobody was going to stick around for the two extra shots we had hoped to get, which really sucks since we technically still had a couple of hours left before our time was up. People just canât hang that long, I guess. It didnât help that it was 90 degrees outside, I guess.
After the shoot, we took the packages and equipment back to Chilton and treated ourselves to some Cool Beans. Overall, I feel like this shoot was far more organized and better-run than the Lip Dub a few years ago. The radio etiquette was on point, and everyone working knew what he/she needed to be doing most of the time. So besides the Scrappy snafu, and the fact that one of our cartsâwhich weâd loaded up with gifts yesterdayâwas nonfunctioning, everything went fairly well! HUGE thanks to everyone for helping out
But man I enjoyed that double bacon mac nâ cheese burger.

An interior shot from near the front door. Cool Beans and before that, Cormier Coffee" have occupied this Mill Street location for a couple of decades I guess. I've probalby bought a hundred fifty pounds of beans and drunk as many drinks on sight over the years. It's a favorite spot.

We had a long, chunky meeting at work today about all of our current projects and where everyone is at on stuff. Somewhere in there, somebody mentioned that Cool Beans got a new menu and a new chef. Uh, what? Yes. So we walked over there to see what’s the deal. Well, the burgers are MUCH improved, especially the mac n’ cheese burger I got. It was when we sat down at a table outside that I saw this piece of artwork. I’m not sure I really understand it, but there it is. You might as well go check out this now-famous table and tear into a delicious artery-clogger.
Emily got home today too! She survived the blizzards of Denver and an enormous amount of travel, and of course the first thing she did when she got here was start organizing her closet and cleaning everything. Settle down, lady! Take a breather already!

These are for Round Two of Sock Madness 2010, a most engaging pattern by YarnYenta. I'm working them on 2.5mm circulars (a larger size than usual, to allow for the effect of colourwork), using Irish organic fingering weight wool in two natural shades, grey for the background and brown for the coffee beans.
