The government recent miraculous (clearly it easily could have been done before) (didn't need #covid_19 to happen) housing of the homeless is presented as a success story, but they are not telling you about the deaths.
The "housing" provided is NOT protected by the Residential Tenancy Act; and is nothing more than Soft Incarceration; without the supports these people need and deserve.
They have been given beads, bobbles, and blankets; in exchange for their possessions, liberties, and for some already, their lives. #RIP

Decampment of Topaz Park and Pandora Avenue Corridor

The City of Victoria is evicting the homeless from pandemic friendly, self-isolating, camp sites; forcing them to move to a temporary encampment in Topaz Park, which provides no opportunity for social distancing or proper hygiene; from where they plan on moving them again, into a large stadium setting which amounts to warehousing of the homeless in a confined setting; again, not COVID-19 friendly.
One of the camps being emptied is the Humans of Beacon Hill Park Community, who live unobtrusively with little objection from the community. The move would place them at higher risk of contracting coronavirus.

12-04-1990, Vaughan, ON. Drafted round 5 #147 overall by San Jose Sharks 2009. Philip Varone is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with Düsseldorf in the DEL. Varone played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2006–07 to 2010–11, collecting 78 goals and 152 assists for 230 points in 228 games. Varone attended the San Jose Sharks training camp in 2010, but was sent down to London for the season. By July 2011, the Sharks had not signed Varone to a contract, making him a free agent. Varone attended the Buffalo Sabres training camp in 2011, but did not make the team. He instead signed a one-year AHL contract with the Sabres' affiliate Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). He led Rochester in scoring with 11 goals and 41 assists. On March 19, 2012, the Buffalo Sabres signed Varone to a three-year entry level contract. Varone was recalled to the Sabres' active roster on January 22, 2014, and scored his first career point with an assist on a goal by Brian Flynn the next night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Varone scored his first goal in his fourth career game, against Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals on January 28, 2014. Following the 2014–15 season, Varone became a restricted free agent under the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Buffalo Sabres made him a qualifying offer to retain his NHL rights and, on July 5, 2015, Varone filed for salary arbitration. The two sides reached an agreement on a one-year, two-way contract on July 13. In the 2015–16 season, Varone played in a further five games with the Sabres, but was on assignment with the Rochester Americans when on February 27, 2016, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators as part of a seven-player deal. Varone was called up to Ottawa for the final game of the season, April 9, 2016 and recorded an assist. In the following 2016–17 season, Varone split between Ottawa and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Serving as an alternate captain he appeared in 65 regular season games for Binghamton, where he recorded 36 assists and 51 points. He was scoreless over 7 games in the NHL with Ottawa. On July 1, 2017, having left the Senators as a free agent, Varone signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. At the end of the 2017–18 regular season, Varone was named the AHL's Most Valuable Player. On December 7, 2018, Varone was recalled by the Flyers. He made his Flyers debut on December 8 against the Buffalo Sabres. He scored his first goal as a member of the Flyers on December 22 in a 4–3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. As a free agent Varone left the Flyers to sign a one-year, two-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens on July 3, 2019. Assigned to AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, to begin the 2019–20 season, Varone although limited through injury contributed with 14 points in 27 games. On February 20, 2020, Varone was traded by the Canadiens along with Riley Barber to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Joseph Blandisi and Jake Lucchini. He was immediately assigned to join affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Varone registered 5 assists in just 6 games before the remainder of the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the following North American season delayed due to the pandemic, Varone as a free agent opted to sign abroad for the first time in his career, joining Kazahstani based club, Barys Nur-Sultan of the KHL on October 26, 2020. On July 7, 2021, Varone joined Lausanne HC of the National League (NL) on a one-year deal. On November 17, 2021, Varone was shipped to SC Bern for the remainder of his contract. He played the 2022/23 season with Spartak Moscow in the KHL and hired with Düsseldorfer EG, member of the German DEL, for the 2023/24 season.

The Golden Triangle Regional Library Consortium (GTRLC) welcomed 17 new libraries this week as the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System and the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System joined ranks with 23 other libraries in the consortium.
During a contract signing on March 7, Dr. Mark Keenum, Mississippi State University President, welcomed the new libraries and thanked the directors and board members for their confidence in the MSU Libraries and for their vision and commitment to providing the best possible service and resources to their patrons.
The Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System serves Mississippi’s Attala, Holmes, Leake, Montgomery and Winston counties, while the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System manages collections for the communities of Columbus, Artesia, Crawford, and Caledonia, Mississippi.
“This is a very exciting time for our patrons and for what our library system can offer to the citizens of Attala County,” said Richard Greene, Executive Director of the Mid-Mississippi RLS. “This library resource sharing consortium will bring the collections of 38 libraries to the finger tips of our Attala County customers.”
“Being a member of the GTRLC means that we can bring a world of information to the citizens of Lowndes County,” said Alice Shands, Director of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System. “No longer are Lowndes County citizens limited to only the informational resources we can afford to purchase. Membership in the GTRLC provides an exponential increase in the amount of information our patrons may now access.”
The GTRLC was established in 1993 as a means of increasing the sharing of resources (access to one database which would contain all of the holdings within the Golden Triangle area) and automation costs as well as the sharing of technical expertise. The mission of the Consortium is to provide a central database that customers can utilize to provide easy access to resources available in the Golden Triangle Region. Building upon the success of the venture between charter members Mississippi State University and Mississippi University for Women, the Consortium continues to impact libraries and provide exceptional service to its members.
“We are very pleased to have the Columbus-Lowndes Library System and the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System join the GTRLC,” said MSU Libraries Administrator of Systems, Stephen Cunetto. “With these additions, the Consortium, the only one of its kind in the State, now includes 40 libraries, including academics, publics, and school libraries.”
Since its establishment, Starkville High School, Tombigbee Regional Library System, Oktibbeha – Starkville Public Library, and the East Mississippi Community College Libraries have joined the consortium. Training and ongoing development and support for the Consortium is handled by the Mississippi State University Libraries.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.
On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.
These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 24.933+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

With the aging of the Grumman S-2 Tracker and the increasing effectiveness of Soviet submarines, the US Navy issued a requirement for a new carrier-based ASW aircraft. Lockheed won the contract, partnering with LTV to design carrier-specific equipment and Univac to design the ASW suite. The resulting S-3A Viking first flew in January 1972 and entered the fleet in February 1974.
While the S-2 integrated the hunter-killer team concept into a single airframe, the S-3 went one step further by completely computerizing the sub-hunting process, integrating the entire sensor suite into one system rather than in several as on the S-2. Initially, this employed a Univac AN/AYK-10 computer served by Texas Instruments AN/APS-116 radar and AN/ASQ-81 MAD sensor in a retractable tail boom. Flown by a crew of four, the S-3’s interior was so efficient that one aviation writer described it as the most compactly designed aircraft in history.
The S-3A--nicknamed "Hoover" for the sound of its engines-- acquired a reputation for being a reliable, easy to fly aircraft, and spawned a number of variants, including the US-3A carrier-onboard delivery (COD) transport aircraft and the ES-3A Shadow Elint variant. A dedicated KS-3A tanker never went into production, but S-3s were increasingly equipped with buddy refuelling packs. When the KA-6D Intruder dedicated tanker was retired from the US Navy in the mid-1990s, the S-3 took over the role, though its relatively slow speed meant it could not accompany strikes into enemy territory. Despite that, the S-3 always had the capability to carry not only antisubmarine ordnance such as torpedoes and depth charges, but also bombs and later the AGM-84 Harpoon antiship missile and AGM-65 Maverick AGM. The S-3’s antiship capability was used in both Gulf Wars: in 1991, a S-3 sank an Iraqi attack boat with conventional bombs, while in 2003 a S-3 destroyed an Iraqi command post with a Maverick in Basra.
Beginning in 1991, the S-3As in service were modified to S-3B standard, with upgraded avionics and a new APS-127V synthetic-aperature radar, giving the S-3B a significant ship-detection and SAR capability as well. Though the ES-3A was withdrawn from service in the mid-1990s, several S-3Bs were converted to littorial reconnaissance (Gray Wolf) and ground surveillance (Brown Boy) roles. With the reduction of submarine threats to the US Navy, the S-3 fleet is being gradually retired; those remaining in service have had their ASW equipment removed and serve primarily as tankers. Their role has been largely replaced by the SH-60B/F Seahawk series, and, aside from a handful of test aircraft, the S-3 was retired in 2009.
159743 joined the Navy in 1976 as part of VS-28 ("Hukkers"), but served most of its career with VS-24 ("Scouts") off the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). 159743 was with VS-24 in 1991 during the First Gulf War when it became the first S-3 to drop bombs in anger over a land target, when the squadron struck Iraqi positions on the Kuwaiti coast. In 1993, it was transferred to the Navy's test establishment and was retired from VX-20 at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland in 1999. Returned to Lockheed, it was used in airframe fatigue tests at the Lockheed Marietta plant. In 2010, 159743 was donated to the Marietta Museum of History's airpark.
159743 is missing its engines and looks a little worn, but it's good to see that the first S-3 to see combat has been saved. It wears the overall light gray scheme carried by "Hoovers" in the last decade of their career; the "Force" tail emblem is a carryover from VX-20. It is displayed with wings folded.

S. Mitra Kalita, WSJ deputy global economics editor, sat down with India's ambassador to the U.S., Meera Shankar, to talk about the relationship between the U.S. and India and their respective new administrations. Here are some edited excerpts:
WSJ: What is the status of the nuclear deal? There's been some concern that commercial contracts have stalled.
Ambassador Meera Shankar
.We are committed to taking this deal forward. We are engaged in some of the residual arrangements which have to be worked out. For instance on reprocessing (of the spent fuel), the nuclear deal provided that the U.S. agreed to this in principle but the arrangements would be mutually agreed upon after a request made by India. The request has been made by India and we hope to commence negotiations in July. Both sides have designated nodal points. We are about to commence negotiations and hope to then see progress on a concrete project.
WSJ: Does President Obama seem as committed to the deal as President Bush was?
He's very committed to the relationship. Secretary of State (Hillary) Clinton in her address to the India-U.S. Business Council pointed out that among those voting for the deal were Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Joe Biden and Sen. Hillary Clinton.
WSJ: What's your assessment of Barack Obama's relationship with India?
This administration would like to build on the gains which have been made. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's remarks said it's a relationship which has moved forward under two administrations -- initially under the Clinton administration when he was president and then carried forward by the Bush administration. She hopes to take the relationship to the third level.
WSJ: What is India's agenda for Secretary of State Clinton's upcoming trip to India?
This is going to be a key visit after our elections. We want to extend cooperation to sectors such as education, health, science and technology, while consolidating the gains which have been made in areas such as the nuclear energy deal.
WSJ: There has been concern that some measures by the U.S. would be seen as protectionist, even a reversal of policy toward India. Your thoughts?
In a situation of global economic downturn, it is all the more necessary that the pathways for trade and investment remain open. From India's point of view, we'd like to see that we have a framework in place that facilitates the growth and doesn't act as a constraint. The relationship has been growing steadily. Trade has doubled in four years, and investment flows now are in both directions. Two studies released recently, by the India Brand Equity Foundation and the Confederation of Indian Industry, point out that over the last few years, the India-U.S. relationship had created more than $100 billion in value to the U.S. economy and created 300,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly. This includes goods which India has purchased from the U.S. and it includes investment which has flowed from India to the U.S. and includes the enhancement of the competitiveness of U.S. companies by virtue of using synergies with Indian companies.
Another study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry more narrowly focused on investment shows that in the last two years, foreign direct investment by Indian companies in the U.S. market is more than U.S. foreign direct investment in India. This has generated 30,000 jobs in the U.S. directly and many more indirectly. We are looking here at the benefits of outsourcing.
WSJ: Is India on the path to being a superpower?
India is not a superpower. I don't think we have aspirations to be a superpower. By virtue of our scale and the growth of our economy and the stability of institutions in India, India is poised to emerge as a significant actor in global affairs. But let us also remember that large portions of the Indian population will continue to be relatively poor. The overall scale of the economy will be huge, but per capita incomes will still be relatively low. This is a dimension which Indian politics has to take into account and be sensitive to.
WSJ: Could that result in India not entering discussions of geopolitical importance? Why did Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not speak up about the protests over Iran elections, for example?
India has really adopted a policy which seeks to avoid interfering directly in internal developments in other countries. We subscribe to democratic values and to a very vigorous democratic framework. The best way to promote this is through positive programs for democratic institution-building. We have contributed to the U.N. Democracy Fund, for example, and we have helped countries on constitutional issues and training in electoral practices.
WSJ: What are the key areas of reforms coming up?
The emphasis will be on the government managing the impact of the global economic crisis, which has led to a moderation of growth in India. We still have growth and are relatively better off. We want to ensure through a series of measures that domestic demand expands and that we can manage the impact of the crisis without a sharp deceleration in growth.
The next objective would be to get back to a high growth path of 8%-10%.
Then in terms of the government's articulated program, it would be important to ensure that growth is inclusive and target the ability of the government to delivery.
After the Mumbai terrorist attacks, the government has announced a slew of measures to enhance the internal administrations' ability to deal with security.
Development of infrastructure, which has been seen as a key constraint to India achieving its economic objectives of a high-growth path, will be a priority. We should expect more investment in the range of infrastructure sectors.
WSJ: How has globalization changed the nature of diplomacy? Most Americans have heard of India by now and have access to information, arts, culture, business. How does this change your job?
Diplomacy has become more broad based. It is no longer limited to issues of strictly speaking national security or geopolitical aspects. It embraces trade and business relations. It embraces educational contacts, cultural contacts, cooperation between scientific communities,
The whole definition of diplomacy has broadened. The connections are at multiple levels as well as the government to government interaction, which leads but is also changed or influenced by these other connections.

I feel my tummy contracting sometimes now. I did not know it is the contraction pratice of my uterus and I just thought my tummy has become harder...
Some blood vessels appearing at the lower part of my tummy is making me nervous. Maybe this is because of the weight of my BoB and the burden rest on the lower part.
Now, my waist is 37.5inch! (26inch before)
Strech marks finally appear!!!
This week, I have finally made up my mind on the name of my BoB. For the Chinese one, will annouce later. But for the English one, I guess some of you have already known if you keep reading our comments and descriptions. :)
