Male - Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis)

The 10th Annual WEDU PBS and Community Foundation of Tampa Bay Continuing Education Seminar was held on September 17, 2015 at WEDU PBS.

PVC was cut into rings at the hardware store, then into arcs at home

with a handsaw. A dremel sanded off stray bits and drilled the hole.

The tube is a spraypainted cable organizer --something that is

surprisingly hard to find in unsplit form! The Internet eventually

saved me; I got it for about $1.25/ft

We decided to strip our cabinets down to the wood. Yikes. Turned out to be a big project. Big suprise.

Found hinges, welded to make a frame. Taken back to the setting in which they were found, which happens to be the hospital where I was born, and re-photographed.

This wall is going to get pushed back for the built in cabinets. Plaster demo looks like a pain in the ass. That gray stuff between the studs is my lovely insulation. Soon to be replaced with the good stuff!

It looks like it is going to be a good day of hunting.

This pair is definitely heavily into the nest-building phase. I suspect they realize they're a bit behind the times. I also am rethinking my previous observation that they (at least the male) weren't/(wasn't) trying to mate when he landed on her frequently yesterday. (those pics are still awaiting upload). Even though I've been doing this for 2 seasons now, I'm getting more excited about the potential with this nest..

Oh, and hats off to Jon (Nikographer) for the frequent feedback that is helping me improve so rapidly with these shots (yeah, the better weather is helping some, too). I was clearly underestimating the severity of the effects of using the teleconverter, and misjudging DoF/aperture needs, etc. I'm very happy with the results shown here..

1/26/2008 - Latest pictures of the GPRMC construction. As you can see the west side structures are taking shape. More work has been done on the foundations on the east side.

We began clearing a disused dining room of a great deal of junk a week or two ago. We emptied one entire wall and a corner. Soon, the painting will commence, then the carpet will be replaced. I'm looking forward to the work, but going through decades of detritus is emotionally difficult.

After dinner, we retired to the Stonefly for to watch the Brewers win. There were also some beers.
