Continuing the series about current floods in Paris.

Don't miss the drowned building on the left ... usually people gather by the hundreds just in front of that building so they can share a picnic by the Seine.

Have nice day, my friends !

After a brief stop for lunch, we meet up with the SB CWR again at Spence where they duck under a wooden bridge. This is one of the last wooden bridges within a couple hundred kilometers of Toronto. CP 6080 & 6045 continue their trek down the Mactier sub.

Continuing with my winter theme of posting dragonflies I've rarely if ever posted ...

For a few warmer years I was able to find & shoot this species as close as an hour-and-a-half drive SE of here in Georgia where they would perch with Halloween pennants. But apparently, colder winters have driven them back farther south. This male was at a lake along the Gulf coast of Florida, flying with species like Golden-winged, Needham's & Bar-winged skimmers. 4-spotted's are fairly common closer to the coast.

Continuing a hot summer tradition.....posting a series of refreshing cold snowy images for a week or so. Sweaters recommended while viewing....

Banff's Lake Louise with a snowy border. No swimmers this day.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated.

lol... I'm a rock... no, you're a bear!

These two very playful Polar Bears housed in the Arctic exhibit of the Assiniboine Park Zoo Conservancy were soooo delighted to have their new swimming pool installed and full to play in and cool off! They are fully aware of the people watching them and they do love to entertain when they're in the mood to do so.

Continuing my Toy-ronto Life and Magic of Blue Hour series...

From Miniature Sunday to Blue Monday :-)

Saw this elegant blue hour on Toronto cityscapes the other day.

Continuing my white bird set with this White Ibis found in a marsh near Port Aransas, Texas.

Continuing with the theme of the photogenic Tufted Titmouse, here it is coming in for a soft landing. It is so quick that I see I'm going to have to up my SS a bit more if I want to completely stop action.

After a big storm this winter in Chicago ... it just kept snowing.

The Minster was undergoing significant works during our visit. Thankfully, this side entrance which protrudes out from the main building was not only pristine but also strongly lit. Very thoughtful of them.

Built in 1931, the lighthouse continues the use of a fifth order Fresnel lens that was first used in 1891, in the original lighthouse. The foreground pale brown is due to the shallow but rough water, kicking up sand, while the deep blue is deeper water.

On February 5, 2021we had another soft snowfall that came down as a beautiful, white, fluffy snow. Since I had my Canon at home I felt fortunate to be able to photograph nature at its finest, up close and personal in the woods and hillside behind my home. Continuing with the current ‘In Flight’ Dragonflies Theme, this one from last year is my all time favourite.

This Image was captured on the Atherton Tablelands North Queensland..

A lot of fun to watch the sky explode in color and to move around there in the field of leaves to capture that sunlight and color from the sky to the leaves. Fall splendor here in Maryland.

Continuing on down the inland Molesworth road.

You could easily take 500 photos walking round this lake. and amazing place any time of the year.

Continuing my series, Maxwell is a small town in Story County, Iowa with around 860 people. Businesses include a small grocery store, a gas station, a bank, medical clinic and funeral home. However, what I find fascinating is the Historical Society’s museum. There are two large century-old buildings plus a machine shed with farm implements. I only show one building in this photo, but the combined museum collection holds over 13,00 items from the 1800’s to date. I find that quite amazing for a small town.

Developed with Darktable 4.8.0.

About the series: Life in a small Midwestern town often means a slower pace of life, close-knit communities, and a strong connection to the land and agriculture. Residents typically have a strong sense of pride in their hometown and a friendly, neighborly attitude. Small towns usually have limited employment and entertainment options, but the tradeoff is typically a lower cost of living and a quieter, more peaceful environment. Presented in black and white at night, I hope to capture the essence of a few small Iowa towns in this series. Series Album: flic.kr/s/aHBqjBWTai

Continuing my photographic highlights of 2016...

I've been to the Valley of the Rocks many times but usually with a bunch of 12 year olds in tow on school camp. So this chance to walk and linger with my camera at leisure was much appreciated.

Continuing with the splendor that I experienced when I stepped away from the camper (shown in comments) on this glorious morning.

Conveniently another early riser quietly paddled slowly by in his red canoe in the rain as the loons, grebes and other songbirds serenaded us with their soothing morning song. It just doesn't get much better than this.

Thanks for taking the time to look, and for any comments and faves. Always appreciated!

... and I ask you: do

you understand my dreams?

sometimes you say you do,

and sometimes you say you don't.

either way it doesn't matter.

After visiting Kirkjufell, we stayed at the Grundarfjörður campsite and continued further east the next day, where we hiked up Saxhóll crater, visited Svöðufoss and went on a whale watching tour in Ólafsvík. We then decided to stay that night at the campsite in Ólafsvík as there were showers available there (unlike in Grundarfjörður, where you had to use the showers of the swimming pool right next to the campsite, which was of course closed at later hours), but before settling down for the night we seriously considered visiting Kirkjufell again, especially since it was very close by. I still had the beautiful sunset from the day before in my mind (which you can see in my last upload), but half an hour before sunset it was very overcast with no sign of sunlight and hence we decided to stay in our campervan.

Half an hour later, however, I couldn’t resist looking out of the window checking the sunset and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I know that the weather in Iceland can change very quickly, but I didn’t think that a heavily clouded sky can break up and give rise to such an explosion of colors. Well, there was I standing in awe, regretting that I didn’t drive to Kirkjufell again, but then I tried to make the best of it. Since the campsite was in the foreground, I decided to go for some intimate compositions and this single cloud immediately caught my eye. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such insane colors and I really would have loved to photograph Kirkjufell, but then I never would have taken this image which I really like. I hope you like it too! :)

Lighting was tough but the two Great Pondhawks I saw that Christmas were lifers for me. They were noticeably bigger than our Eastern pondhawk. And adult males remain green rather than changing to blue.

Continuing in my C-O-L-D series...

Deep reds and pinks in the sunset sky were reflecting onto the cracking ice of the Sheboygan Harbor.

Sometimes it's easy to miss beauty all around us, and I almost missed this colored ice since I was so focused on photographing the geese and ducks.

Suddenly it caught my eye and it took my breath away.

Things changed fast though, and within three minutes this same ice was grey and drab, the sun having set and its colors faded.

Enjoy nature's art with me, cold as it may be :)

A few more image from my Barn Project, many hours spent just watching from afar, watching the Owls hunt fields aways sometimes and not even entering the field where I'm positioned. Tucked away within a bush scrim netting up, and camera on a tripod awaiting the owl coming within my parameters to grab an image. Thank You all for viewing and comments.

Continuing with "Pano-Portraiture" - using the panoramic sabotage technique in the service of portraiture. ( Dis-service ? )

The thing that seems to be distinguishing pano-sabotage artists on Flickr from the many, many people who are posting to hosts of other online iPhoneography groups is that here, we Flickr folk are working hard to ensure that this technique is yet another tool for making art and is not a end unto itself.

When you search around online you see a lot of panoramic distortion images being posted but most of them just come across as novelty pics. "Hey, isn't this weird?" kind of thing.

So my hat is off to all who've worked with the technique here on Flickr and posted work that is truly artistic and unquestionably creative. Cheers to you all !!!!!

The original image is much larger. This portrait was isolated out of that bigger picture in order to zero in on a portrait opportunity.

" I'm not a perfect person

There's many things I wish I didn't do

But I continue learning

I never meant to do those things to you

And so, I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

And the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you

It's something I must live with everyday

And all the pain I put you through

I wish that I could take it all away

And be the one who catches all your tears

That's why I need you to hear

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

And the reason is you

And the reason is you

And the reason is you

And the reason is you

I'm not a perfect person

I never meant to do those things to you

And so I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

And the reason is you

I've found a reason to show

A side of me you didn't know

A reason for all that I do

And the reason is you ... "

As we continue our drive towards the Spanish Peaks, the road became too snow covered for a safe drive. So, we turned and headed away from the Peaks. Off in the distance is Mt Mestas and Rough Mountain. It's a lot further than it looks. A drive for another day perhaps.

Continuing a long tradition of Lehigh Valley painted units on trains over the Delaware & Hudson, the 8104 leads 11R as they charge up Richmondville Hill. Fortunately for myself and Brian Plant, NS provided a recrew for this train at Mohawk Yard in time to get a bit of a chase south on the D&H, something I hadn't done in about fifteen years, so thanks again to Brian for being a tour guide out here.

As the fair weather continues, I thought it would be a good opportunity to practise some focus stacking techniques. This is one of the more simple ones that I did but I liked the composition enough to share the image. I am blending manually and this can be a pain-staking and lengthy process but I really do think that the rewards are worth the effort. There are still mistakes in focus points in all of the images I took yesterday but ultimately, I feel I managed to conceal these well for the most part. This image was taken on the coastline of Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.

Continuing the theme of abstract. Long vacated office building behind St Stephens Street in Norwich.

Continuing with my winter theme of posting dragonflies & bugs I've rarely if ever posted ...

A White Peacock at the wonderful Corkscrew Swamp (you could encounter bears & panthers on the boardwalk) near Naples, Florida ... just before Christmas in 2009. I've never heard of a Peacock stray making it up here but a few do wander from their very southern range.

Continuing the Australian Christmas theme, all eyes are on the Christmas Kangaroo, except for the Python who can sleep through anything.

Continuing my ICM (camera movement) experiments. It's not yet perfect and my arm is about to fall off, due to the added weight of the setup for this. I still think it's worth it to further explore this.

Shot with a Schneider Kreuznach "Xenon 35 mm F2" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Continuing my year in review.

Another bird frequently found near the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center is the Roseate Spoonbill. They're a highlight of our trip with that crazy bill and their lovely pink plumage. This one was completing its preening session with that final shake to get all those feathers in perfect alignment.
