The container's shine and gloss looks alien to everything else in the shot. No idea how or why it came out this way. Kind of odd but I like it. Reminds me of the monolith in 2001 - A Space Odyssey. Maybe there's a connection..... Kubrick's film featured aerial footage of east Harris's lunar like landscape to represent the surface of Jupiter.
Straight from the camera with only white balance adjustment, a little perspective correction to straighten up the container and a slight crop. No effects, multiple images or computer trickery, honest!
The container sits at the side of the road by Loch Langavat fish farm, Isle of Harris.
From the same session and location as my Net washers, and Manitou pics.
Full moon, 106 seconds. Green gelled LED on the container and natural LED aimed at the wooden hut on the floating pontoon.

I don't know how to explain this phenomenon, but a container ship out on the North Sea appears to be reflected - and both the ship and the reflection seem to be floating above the horizon. Seen off the Essex coast, taken with a 500mm lens, but this is cropped to show about a quarter of the whole frame. D500_76216.NEF
3. Temporary Container Shelter
Four 20-foot containers make up the two-storey temporary shelter unit LiNX, which Dublin-based industrial designer Richard Barnwall had originally intended for construction workers use. However, by adapting the interiors, one can easily imagine its use as temporary or even permanent housing units.

Maasvlakte 2 is a major civil engineering project in the Netherlands, constructing a new port and supporting infrastructure on reclaimed land adjoining the Maasvlakte. Approximately 2000 hectares will be reclaimed, behind a 4 km dike; approximately 1000 hectares will be used by ports related industries. It is an extension of the Port of Rotterdam.
Maasvlakte 2 is the biggest civil engineering project in the Netherlands since the Delta Works. The area opened on 22 May 2013.
Container terminal operators APM Terminals and Rotterdam World Gateway began construction of their terminals in 2012. The APM terminal opened in April 2015. Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) is the main competitor for European Container Terminals (ECT), currently the biggest operator of a container terminal in Rotterdam. RWG's terminal includes a 20-meter deep dock and its own railroad station, and would be capable of handling 2.35 million containers annually.

Norfolk Southern stack train 26C is transitioning from the CSX Cincinnati Terminal Subdivision to the CSX Toledo Subdivision in Hamilton, Ohio. The stack train will get back on its own rails at New River Junction a few miles north in New Miami, Ohio.
Nate made this awesome container port for the PennLUG layout, and I made the water (with tile-laying help from various PennLUG members).

A design for a space shipping container that can stack (left) and also clip to a frame above for lifting or attaching to a ship etc. (right). Measures 26x10 which is awkward but gives a lovely 24x8 interior so it will fit all sorts. Doors open too.
Houses made from cargo containers, right down the street from my house! These are so cool. And they say that the power bill shouldn't get over $40/month. I believe these are the ones made from four 8-by-32 foot shipping containers ("one-trippers" emptied of cargo at American docks) that will be assembled into a nearly 1,300-square-foot home.
