One of the most colourful species of the genus, Aprasia inaurita is found in the mallee of southern Australia. These legless lizards can grow to just over 100mm long but are extremely thin - like spaghetti! Rarely surfacing, these lizards almost exclusively feed on ant pupae so they spend most of their time underground in active ant nests!

The tower sounds like the cooling fans are on their deathbed begging to be put out of their misery, it can be turned off but then you lose the cool lighting. (A no sound version is included in the set now.)

When I first arrived close to this seal he was resting and just bottling in the sun. He did occasionally have a look at me to see why this old man was stumbling about the rocks trying to take pictures but he seemed content to pose for a few pictures. Eventually I left him alone and he went back to sleep.

These two (well the Raven had friends) waged a war with many mini battles over fifteen minutes. The Ravens wanted the Black-Shouldered Kite's tree. Probably only because it wanted the tree too.
This week's theme for Macro Mondays is "Intended Contact"... and there is definitely intended contact when it comes to a predator and its prey! In this photo a Green Jumping Spider has captured and killed a Soldier Fly more than twice its size.

OK.. this is in answer to my good friend Bella's challenge! No retouching.. no photoshop. All I did was to crop to a Flickr size! This was taken at 6:00 a.m. right after shower and getting ready for work..No flash.. just a light over my right shoulder. My arm out the window in the kitchen. I was browsing my contacts pics and came upon her challenge.. so Bella.. this is your fault..LMAO!
ps.. believe me this is a really quick shot.. I still had my reading glases on from reading Bella's challenge..lol
