June 19 -- Monaco’s Consulate General and Tourist Office in New York celebrated the fabled history of Monte-Carlo at the FIAF/French Institute Alliance Française with art and a movie! The photographic exhibition, “Mythical Monte-Carlo: 150 Years in the Making” (on now through August 23 at the FIAF Gallery) features eclectic Monaco architectural images, and guests also viewed "Monte-Carlo, Birth of a Legend" before a VIP reception. Our next stop was the old Russian Consulate, which is now a hotel. This is a relic of the time when The Great Game between Russia and Great Britain was in progress. See this link for a not-so-brief history of the game - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Game

Note that the sign is in Uyghur, Simplified Chinese, and English.

An evening at the residence of the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai. The reason for this event was the musical cooperation between violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing and composer Tan Dun (both famous in their respective countries, Norway and China).

Hamburg, Germany.

A soccer tournament in SF Bay Area CA against Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland). Norway won (again!).

This building is the Kuwaiti consulate. The guards here were pretty laid-back, but would still occasionally try to flirt with us.

We passed this building every weekday in July.
