With the temperatures rocketing back up to seasonal more and more people are venturing outside over lunch hour, so while I was traveling between buildings today I had the camera in hand and thought I may as well work on my street photography.
It's one area of photography that I feel very weak in, and need to force myself to break out of my comfort zone every now and then.
Since one of the main sights of summer in Ottawa is construction, I felt it fitting to get a shot of these guys lined up and enjoying a bit of a rest.
Just a normal summer day in the city.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Genesis 28:12
And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!
Walking by, I was interested in what lies beneath the sidewalk. Not much, apparently. But look! . . .
Above, the young construction worker eyes me (and my camera) warily. I gave no sign or indication of my awareness, intent on my shot.
Above him, the hair salon stylists in the window at right are posing for the camera!
Thanks Ladies for making this shot happen!
Peace.

Originally designed by Hans Beck, Geobra / Brandstätter first presented the little 7,5 cm plastic toys in January 1974 at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. The first three kinds were the construction worker (which originally had a little white-orange vest, too), an American Indian and a knight.
This was my first time to approach a stranger to be photographed.
While walking towards him he suddenly opened the big gates behind him showing what was going on inside - it's a construction site. It's like telling me welcome to my world. I was just amazed with what he did so I thought I'd take a photo of him and share his story. And the coolest part was when I asked him to pose, he said you want my hat on?
It's just an awesome feeling to have this portrait. Hats off to you brother!:)

A city like this doesn't get built alone. It takes the effort and sweat of lots of men. Today, here's my tribute to them.

Well i'm no model and I guess it would have been better taken in an appropriate setting.
That said I could never see myself rocking up to work setting my tripod and light up getting a mix on and telling the lads or customer don't mind me i'll just be taking my own portrait.
:-)
