This construction site in Toronto's Corktown neighbourhood appeared to have a very small crew working today. Two to be precise. (See just below blue floors, centre right.) I can't help thinking this is at least partly due to the pandemic.
First time putting plastic toys on a cake, but the mom *really* wanted them so I factored it in to the design. You can't see it but the backhoe is conveniently digging into a spot on the side of the cake where I was about to have a fondant blowout; it created a perfect "I meant to do that!" decoration! This cake has elements of so many other construction cakes, I wouldn't even know who to credit. Everything is fondant except the truck toys, candy rocks and candy lego building blocks. Well, and the cookie crumb dirt.

Poor quality pictures by any standards but 7:30 in a rainy morning, behind the red light, it’s hard to do any better. Besides, when approaching a road construction site, who really expect to be faced with such a heavenly creature!?

Off to the left, you can see the new Marriott TownePlace Suites, one of a number of new hotels near the mall in recent years. What you can't see are the new apartments behind it, or the construction site for yet more beyond the building in front (also a construction site). The development of apartments in and around Chandler Fashion Center has been exceptionally brisk, with activity concentrated here and to the southeast in the Viridian site. In fact, the Moon Valley nursery that operated just beyond the traffic light has been torn out to make way for yet more apartments!
This is a desirable area for both apartments and hotels not only because of the nearby mall, dining, etc. but also because the location is essentially the northern end of the Price Corridor, a major regional employment hub with tech companies such as PayPal, Intel, GM and Wells Fargo. Intel has two campuses here in Chandler which together employ 11,000 people.

Ok, this is actually a "painter" effect added to one of my constructions. I haven't used painter in years. Never really cared much for that program but it came with my Wacom pad.

Spring 1977
I probably took this mostly because I would have been surprised that there were workers on site and one of them was engaged in doing work, laying bricks.
We have something special to celebrate this year - our new home in Maine. It has 1.) a nice open design with 2.) plenty of kitchen space for Donna and 3.) a smaller lawn for John.
The picture on the wall is a moose standing in a snowy forest. The lamps are made out of antlers. The outside of the house looks like a log cabin. To take this photo, I used the panorama option on my camera. That distorted the wood beams slightly when the pictures were merged together.
