On the Norwegian Constitution Day, everybody dress up, often in a national costume -- called bunad -- from your home town or county. These are handmade with intricate embroideries, and many silver buttons, and are hence quite expensive. Therefore, not everybody has one. They are far more popular with women than with men. Most young girls will get one for their confirmation. Most men wear a suit with a red, white and blue ribbon.

 

My flat mate Mari, a friend Tore and I are on our way to town, to see the parade.

Louise Melling ’82, deputy legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the director of the ACLU’s Center for Liberty, spoke on reproductive freedoms on September 14, 2011.
