The Jakob-Kaiser-Haus in Berlin is one of the parliament buildings of the German capital. In front of this building, there is a fine piece of artwork called Grundgesetz 49 by Dani Karavan. It consists of 19 glass panels which are approximately 3 meters in height. Each of these panels has one of the basic right articles of the constitution (Grundgesetz) of the Federal Republic of Germany engraved into its surface. The photo shows the panel with the first article.

I don't know how long these two objects have been sitting side by side in the bookcase; they caught my eye today.

Launched in 1797, USS Constitution was a heavy frigate of the USA navy. Although designated a frigate she was twice the weight of a typical frigate of the time (2,200 tons) and although classed as a 44gun frigate she actually carried over 50 guns. Most were 24pounders plus 20+, 32-pounder carronades. These frigates were almost as powerful as 'Ships of the Line'.
She was successful in all her actions, most famously against the much smaller British frigate HMS Guerriere (1,090 tons). During the action an American sailor reportedly exclaimed "Huzzah! her sides are made of iron!" and Constitution acquired the nickname "Old Ironsides"
USS Constitution is a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy. Named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States of America, she is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat.[Note 1] Launched in 1797, Constitution was one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794 and the third constructed. Joshua Humphreys designed the frigates to be the young Navy's capital ships, and so Constitution and her sisters were larger and more heavily armed and built than standard frigates of the period. Built in Boston, Massachusetts, at Edmund Hartt's shipyard, her first duties with the newly formed United States Navy were to provide protection for American merchant shipping during the Quasi-War with France and to defeat the Barbary pirates in the First Barbary War.
Constitution is most famous for her actions during the War of 1812 against Great Britain, when she captured numerous merchant ships and defeated five British warships.
Constitution's stated mission today is to promote understanding of the Navy's role in war and peace through educational outreach, historic demonstration, and active participation in public events. As a fully commissioned US Navy ship, her crew of 60 officers and sailors participate in ceremonies, educational programs, and special events while keeping the ship open to visitors year round and providing free tours. The officers and crew are all active-duty US Navy personnel and the assignment is considered special duty in the Navy. Traditionally, command of the vessel is assigned to a Navy Commander. Constitution is berthed at Pier 1 of the former Charlestown Navy Yard, at one end of Boston's Freedom Trail.

2012/04/20- Cairo- Egypt- Liberal and Islamist protesters converge in Tahrir Square. Various demands from liberal April 6 movement, the National Association for Change, Salafist Abu Ismail and Muslim Brotherhood were made; One of the demands was the retreat on 30 June of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) from the political scene and the importance of drafting a representative constitution. Another popular demand from the different podiums addressed getting rid of former regime figures in the presidential election. ( Armed Shafiq and Ex-Arab League chief, Amr Moussa.).
Mainly Dalit ("untouchable") people held a rally at India Gate in New Delhi. They are opposed to the proposals of "Team Hazare", which they feel will destroy India's Constitution.
All the sixteen photos of the rally that I kept, including this one, appear in the Flickr stream of TwoCircles.net also.
For Independence Day & the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, a flotilla of tall ships and naval ships came to Boston for the 4th of July celebrations.
The centerpiece of the week was the annual turnaround cruise of the frigate USS Constitution, escorted this year by the barque USCGC Eagle, and a flyover by the Blue Angels F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets and other military airplanes & helicopters, and parachute jumpers

Ive been by this beautiful church more times than I could ever count over my lifetime, yet never visited it. Now it stands empty, its congregation attending other places. The church sits atop a steep hill overlooking Ohio route 7 in what once was known as Constitution Ohio. Im hoping to go back to be able to go inside. I just discovered that one of the family members who owns this property is a fellow I went to high school with.
I took this photo late in the evening as I was heading to my son's house. I have to pass by here to get to his home and it gave me a good reason to stop and get a few shots.
