Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
To sing a love song
While we stroll along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow, we can build a snowman
We'll pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say, are you married?
We'll say, no man
But you can do the job when you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow, we can build a snowman
We'll pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say, are you ready?
We'll say, no man
But you can do the job when you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made

Bolinas Ridge, Mount Tamalpais State Park, California
Standing on the west shoulder of Mt Tamalpais, we watch the setting sun light up the Bolinas Peninsula below. That evening the clouds conspired to cloak the sun's final descent over the ocean.
You are forever. Invincible. A Being of Light on an adventure of the highest order: to have fun and be happy in a magical, infinite, loving reality that conspires tirelessly in your favor; where thoughts become things, dreams come true, and all things remain forever possible.

“Curve in the Canyon” — A gravel wash curves through narrows in a Death Valley canyon.
The sensations upon entering one of these canyons after walking in desert heat and sun are striking. It is suddenly much darker and much quieter, and often the air is still. At this bend in this canyon, the walls and edges conspired to create a sort of spiral shape with everything centering on the bigger and warmer-toned section in the upper center of the photograph.
When hiking these canyons they often start to feel like a steady progression back and forth trends — a turn to the right is soon followed by one to the left, and so forth. In some canyons this leads to a somewhat humor “just one more”situation.I might check my watch and not that it is about my turn-around time. I tell myself, “First, just hike to the next curve.” Getting there I tell myself, “You can take a look at what is beyond this section.” So I round the bend and see the canyon continues… and, of course, I just have to continue on to the next bend… and then next… and the one after that.

Love is an emotion that we do not choose, but that is immersed in ourselves. It is wonderful and intense, but it is also subject to multiple tests that are imposed on us, sooner or later. Despite this, if the love between two beings is authentic, one day soon, both will find each other again. In love, nothing is due to chance, all this results from a divine conspiracy, wishing to reunite two beings destined to be together for eternity...

Slains Castle, also known as New Slains Castle to distinguish it from nearby Old Slains Castle, is a ruined castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It overlooks the North Sea from its cliff-top site 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of Cruden Bay. The core of the castle is a 16th-century tower house, built by the 9th Earl of Erroll. Significant reconstruction of the castle has been carried out a number of times, lastly in 1837 when it was rebuilt as a Scots Baronial mansion. At one time it had three extensive gardens, but is now a roofless ruin. Plans to restore the castle have been on hold since 2009. The Clan Hay were a powerful family in the area for generations, having possessed the lands of Slains since the 14th century. In 1453 Sir William Hay, the clan chief, was made Earl of Erroll by King James II. At this time the local seat of power was Old Slains Castle, near Collieston some 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) to the south-west. Francis Hay, 9th Earl of Erroll, succeeded in 1585, and converted to Roman Catholicism. He conspired with other Catholic nobles, including the Earl of Huntly, with whom he joined in a brief rebellion in 1589. Erroll was also a signatory of the "Spanish Blanks", documents signed by members of the Catholic nobility of Scotland, and otherwise left to be filled in with the terms of Spanish aid. Erroll was declared a traitor in 1594, and Old Slains Castle was destroyed in October on the orders of King James VI. After a period abroad Erroll returned to Scotland, and abjured Roman Catholicism in 1597, subsequently returning to royal favour. He abandoned Old Slains and built a courtyard and square tower on the present site. Originally named Bowness, it later became known as New Slains. The wings around the courtyard were extended in 1664 by addition of a gallery or corridor, and in 1707 the entrance front was renewed In 1820 William Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll, married Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence, the illegitimate daughter of King William IV and Dorothea Jordan. In the 1830s the 18th Earl commissioned the Aberdeen architect John Smith to remodel the castle. This resulted in a virtual rebuilding of Slains in a Scots Baronial style, including granite facings, in 1836–1837. Gardens were laid out in the late 1890s by the landscape architect T. H. Mawson. In 1895 the author Bram Stoker visited the area, staying at a cottage near Cruden Bay, and he may have been a guest at Slains. The castle is commonly cited as an inspiration for Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula. In 1913 the 20th Earl of Erroll sold New Slains, ending more than 300 years of occupation by the family. It was purchased by Sir John Ellerman, the wealthy but secretive owner of the Ellerman Lines shipping company, who leased it out. In 1925 the roof was removed to avoid taxes, and the building has deteriorated since. It is now a roofless shell, with most of the outer and inner walls standing to full height. In 2004 it was reported that the Slains Partnership was preparing plans for restoration of the building and conversion into 35 holiday apartments In August 2007 the scheme was granted outline planning permission by Aberdeenshire Council, but the plans were put on hold in 2009 due to the economic downturn. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Slains_Castle

"Stepping into the ethereal realm of the Fairy Pools, I found myself entranced by nature's symphony. The waterfall cascades danced with graceful elegance, harmonizing with the enchanting atmosphere that surrounded them. As overcast clouds gently embraced the mountain tops, a mystical ambiance settled over the scene. It was as if the elements conspired to create a moment of pure magic. With each step, I immersed myself in the serenity of this hidden gem, feeling the whispers of ancient tales carried by the wind. The Fairy Pools, where the forces of nature and wonder collide, inviting us to lose ourselves in their breathtaking embrace. #FairyPools #WaterfallCascades #CloudsTouchingPeaks #EnchantingAtmosphere #MysticalBeauty #Nature'sSymphony #HiddenGem #MagicalMoments #Wanderlust"

"There existed this impeccable heat
in the heart of your existence
an endlessly combustible faction upon faction
in continuous friction – a war of sorts:
You against the world; you against them;
you against everything that conspired to put you down.
You burned. You were a flame. You were an inferno.
And the universe loved that; I loved that;
I looked to you for light and warmth
I saw wild forests of chaos give in,
consumed fuel for days. Hearty. Earthy.
Fucking constant unapologetic living.
But something got to you,
the world in its cold disapproval
put a damper on your spirit.
Inside out the fires have become embers
dying out slowly and all you have to say is:
“I’m fine.”
…sometimes, often times, most times …you just stop me in my tracks."

Tye emerged from a crate just a day after his arrival. He walked around the apartment tappping all cats with his paw as if to say "see? I'm alive!". He is so gentle and sweet. He is a gift from feline gods who conspired to save him defying stupidity, ill will, laziness and crappy circumstances. He is the (yet another) Cat Who Came for Christmas!
PS The credit for saving him goes to Dr Patrick Cotter and his wife Natasha. We wouldn't be able to save Tye without their help.

I’ve been a little busy this last week preparing for the ‘big’ ice storm, dealing with flickering electricity for three days during ad after the storm, ( trying to stay off the computers for fear of a power surge, even with protectors you can crash a system ) followed by the inevitable power outage, This time for only 39 ¾ hours. The next time we have a spare $700.00 we Are getting a generator. I knew there was a reason I had kept my old battery powered cassette player, We listened to episodes of “The Shadow”, Orson Wells’ “War of the Worlds” and “The Bickersons”. I miss old radio shows. They are so descriptive and allow your mind to really blossom. It was… Fun this time. We were prepared. :D
My first choice was to photograph a man's mustache (aka 'cookie duster' ). I did not cross pathes with one mustache clad man the day we were running around preparing for the ice storm, being icebound, this is my second choice.
COOKIES ARE EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN.!!! All the good ones contain sugar. Sugar is EVIL.
I paid dearly for That Pie at Thanksgiving. But boy oh boy was it worth it. There are times I would die for an Oreo double stuff.! And occasionally take the risk. Lol.
I allow myself two pieces of sweet a day. My own rules, no medical reason other than a book I read in 1974 called “Sugar Blues”.. That is when I took refined sugar out of my diet .
________________________________________________________________
Surely you know by now, I’m going to have something extra for you.
You really should make time and read the second link. At least go there, mark it and come back to it another day. I have pulled a few key paragraphs and placed them below.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Blues
Sugar Blues
Sugar Blues is a book by William Dufty that was released in 1975 and became a commercial success. According to the publishers, over 1.6 million copies have been printed.
In the book, Dufty makes the case that sugar is an addictive drug, that it is extremely harmful to the human body, and that the sugar industry conspires to keep Americans addicted to sugar.
The book's central argument is that a small dietary change, eliminating refined sugar, can make a huge difference in how good one is able to feel physically and mentally.
John Lennon was a strong supporter of the book.
www.quantumbalancing.com/news/sugar_blues.htm
Dufty compares sugar to opium, morphine, and heroin, and calls sugar companies "pushers". He blamed sugar for everything from acne and scurvy to bubonic plague.
One of the most powerful ‘Lobby’ groups in Washington is.
THE NUTRITION FOUNDATION INC,. a front organization for the leading sugar-pushing conglomerates in the food business, including the American Sugar Refining Company, Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Curtis Candy Co., General Foods, General Mills, Nestlé Co., Pet Milk Co. and Sunshine Biscuits-about 45 such companies in all.
In the 1930s, a research dentist from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr Weston A. Price, traveled all over the world-from the lands of the remote Alaska to the South Sea Islands, from Africa to New Zealand. His Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects, which is illustrated with hundreds of photographs, was first published in 1939.
Dr Price took the whole world as his laboratory. His devastating conclusion, recorded in horrifying detail in area after area, was simple. People who live under so-called backward primitive conditions had excellent teeth and wonderful general health. They ate natural, unrefined food from their own locale. As soon as refined, sugared foods were imported as a result of contact with "civilization", physical degeneration began in a way that was definitely observable within a single generation.
Any credibility the sugar pushers have is based on our ignorance of works like that of Dr Price. Sugar manufacturers keep trying, hoping and contributing generous research grants to colleges and universities; but the research laboratories never come up with anything solid the manufacturers can use. Invariably, the research results are bad news.
Dextrose, also called "corn sugar", is derived synthetically from starch. Fructose is fruit sugar. Maltose is malt sugar. Lactose is milk sugar. Sucrose is refined sugar made from sugar cane and sugar beet.
"Made from natural ingredients", the television sugar-pushers tell us about product after product. The word "from" is not accented on television. It should be. Even refined sugar is made from natural ingredients. There is nothing new about that. The natural ingredients are cane and beets. But that four-letter word "from" hardly suggests that 90 per cent of the cane and beet have been removed. Heroin, too, could be advertised as being made from natural ingredients. The opium poppy is as natural as the sugar beet. It's what man does with it that tells the story.
If you want to avoid sugar in the supermarket, there is only one sure way. Don't buy anything unless it says on the label prominently, in plain English: "No sugar added". Use of the word "carbohydrate" as a "scientific" word for sugar has become a standard defense strategy with sugar pushers and many of their medical apologists. It's their security blanket.
One lump of sugar in your coffee after a sandwich is enough to turn your stomach into a fermenter. One soda with a hamburger is enough to turn your stomach into a still. Sugar on cereal-whether you buy it already sugared in a box or add it yourself-almost guarantees acid fermentation.
FACTS ABOUT WHITE SUGAR CONSUPTION
The average American consumes an astounding two pounds of sugar each week, which is not surprising considering that highly refined sugars in the forms of sucrose (table sugar), dextrose (corn sugar), and high-fructose corn syrup are being processed into so many foods such as BREAD, breakfast CEREALl, KETCHUP, MAYONNAISE, PEANUT BUTTER, SPAGETTI SAUCE, and a plethora of microwave meals.
An average American consumes147 pounds of sweeteners each year.
Monoglycerides used in some ice creams are a possible cancer causing agent in test animals.
www.quantumbalancing.com/news/sugar_blues.htm
ALL current research supports the above information.
Scary huh.

There are three talking points that no reasonable exposition about Mr. Brown Pelican can possibly ignore:
1. Mr. Pelican sees himself as a postmodern equivalent of Marx's proletariat.
2. Mr. Pelican minces to the twang of a different zither.
3. Mr. Pelican would love to see college campuses morph into small, ivy-covered North Koreas in which the student or faculty member who dares to address the real issues faced by mankind quickly finds himself in a heap of legal trouble.
As a preliminary, I want to test the assumptions that underlie Mr. Pelican's precepts. As I make no claim to be an authority on the subject, I defer to the judgments of an Oxford University professor, who has observed that from secret-handshake societies meeting at "the usual place" to back-door admissions committees, Mr. Pelican's zealots have always found a way to force women to live by restrictive standards not applicable to men.
About a month ago yours truly and Ben Martin conspired to head down to Lanesboro PA to catch the passage of the semiweekly eastbound SU-100 over Starrucca Viaduct. Train frequency and a late call time limits opportunities for a sunlit shot to about two dozen chances a year. Advancing shadows and creeping clouds loomed in but at 8:00 pm the train arrived with the last blast of Sol on the valley. Consist was the 3012-3024-3014-4066 with 36 cars bound for New Jersey. Since 2021 construction the shot now features a single track centered on the bridge deck.
Standing above the cloud line in the Pyrenees, I witnessed one of nature's most humbling spectacles - ancient granite peaks emerging like islands from an endless sea of mist. In this moment, the mountains revealed their dual nature: both earthbound giants and ethereal spirits dancing with the clouds.
My intention was to capture the profound solitude and mystical quality of high-altitude landscapes, where the boundary between earth and sky dissolves into poetry. I chose black and white to strip away all distractions, focusing purely on form, light, and atmosphere. The monochrome treatment emphasizes the timeless dialogue between solid stone and ephemeral mist that has played out here for millennia.
This image represents what draws me to mountain photography - those rare moments when weather and light conspire to reveal landscapes in their most sublime state. Above the clouds, surrounded by silence broken only by wind and stone, you realize how small yet connected we are to these ancient sentinels. Sometimes the most powerful mountain images aren't about conquest or adventure, but about surrender to the overwhelming beauty of wild places.
Delusional disorder, previously called paranoid disorder, is a type of serious mental illness called a "psychosis" in which a person cannot tell what is real from what is imagined. The main feature of this disorder is the presence of delusions, which are unshakable beliefs in something untrue. People with delusional disorder experience non-bizarre delusions, which involve situations that could occur in real life, such as being followed, poisoned, deceived, conspired against, or loved from a distance. These delusions usually involve the misinterpretation of perceptions or experiences. In reality, however, the situations are either not true at all or highly exaggerated.
People with delusional disorder often can continue to socialize and function normally, apart from the subject of their delusion, and generally do not behave in an obviously odd or bizarre manner. This is unlike people with other psychotic disorders, who also might have delusions as a symptom of their disorder. In some cases, however, people with delusional disorder might become so preoccupied with their delusions that their lives are disrupted.

Fall is here at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut.
The house was designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter, an architect from New York City. When it was being built, the Hartford Daily Times noted, "The novelty displayed in the architecture of the building, the oddity of its internal arrangement and the fame of its owner will all conspire to make it a house of note for a long time to come."

I didn't see anything exceptional over my lunch hour today so while I was cooking dinner tonight I grabbed one of the origami pieces that Scott brought me over this past weekend as a prop.
I'd found a dictionary not too long ago that was falling apart and well headed towards a recycle bin somewhere, so I saved it and passed it to Scott for all his folding needs and this is the result of one of those pages.
I don't have the origami details for this model, but watch for Scott's comment if you're interested. I'm sure he'll fill us in on the details.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Todo lo que se pueda decir es mentira;

The Upper Big Branch Mine disaster occurred on April 5, 2010 roughly 1,000 feet (300 m) underground in Raleigh County, West Virginia at Massey Energy's Upper Big Branch coal mine located in Montcoal. Twenty-nine out of thirty-one miners at the site were killed.[1] The coal dust explosion occurred at 3:27 pm.[2] The accident was the worst in the United States since 1970, when 38 miners were killed at Finley Coal Company's No. 15 and 16 mines in Hyden, Kentucky.[3][4][5] A state funded independent investigation later found Massey Energy directly responsible for the blast.[6]. The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) released its final report on December 6, 2011, concluding that flagrant safety violations contributed to the explosion. It issued 369 citations at that time, assessing $10.8 million in penalties.[7] Alpha Natural Resources, which had bought Massey Energy in 2011, settled its corporate criminal liabilities with the U.S. Attorney for $209 million.[8] Investigation of possible personal criminal liability continues,[8] with one former superintendent, Gary May, pleading guilty in March 2012, and "confess[ing] to conspiring to 'impede the [MSHA]'s enforcement efforts.'" In April 2012, coal producer Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (ANR), the owner of the mine at the time, said it will permanently close its Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia.[9][10]
Former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship was convicted in 2015 of a misdemeanor conspiring to willfully violate safety standards and was sentenced to one year in prison.[11] He was found not guilty of charges of securities fraud and making false statements.[12]
Thrilled and grateful. This makes the entire trip worthwhile. Sunday morning I decided to bail on Monument Valley and come to Ouray for a little downtime. Had I not, this shot, over my favorite place on earth, would’ve never happened. Any further west, and the clouds had already moved in and obscured the sky.
I knew it was coming thanks to several of you giving a heads up, so I was more or less ready. Ate dinner, went up to a spot I figured would be good, and realized it was still way too early. Back to the room. The Aurora forecast I looked at didn’t show as much of a possibility for anything that strong to the south. I also started looking at infrared satellite images and could see the cloud cover slowly encroaching. I was successfully talking myself out of making the effort. Mexican food and trace amounts of tequila were also conspiring against me.
I was heavy-eyed, sockless and IN BED when I saw a post from West Texas. It was happening. If it’s showing up that far south, it’s damn sure showing up here. I just had to get past the clouds. Without thinking much about it, I got dressed, drove up the hill, and the rest is pixels. I had mere minutes before the pulse waned. The final nail came with our cloud cover, right on schedule. But the few exposures I managed to make were all I needed to bring you this. Core memory tonight. Prints are definitely available.
On the long yet endlessly interesting ride on the park bus inbound toward Wonder Lake--in Denali National Park, Alaska--the gravel track winds for a time through a beautiful area aptly known as Polychrome Pass.
There the road is little more than a precipitous, machined ledge notched hundreds of feet high into a steep mountainside of colorful granular materials reminiscent of the badlands and mountains of the American southwest. The road is narrow enough in places that the inbound and outbound buses have to coordinate carefully where to pass, occasionally requiring one to back up to find a wider place on the inside of a hairpin turn, and often placing the cliff-side wheels of the eastbound bus so near the edge as to dislodge a few spare chunks of gravel to whims of gravity.
To the west of Polychrome Pass, the colorful mountainsides continue for some time, and seem to draw closer across the narrowing valley, leading to intriguing views of snow patches not yet fully melted in the early summer interspersed among the mineral-rich hues of the rocks and soils. In between wildlife encounters, I found myself entranced with these abstract jigsaw patterns on the multi-hued slopes. My focus on these features admittedly was heightened by circumstance, namely that the region's notoriously present clouds had conspired to completely obscure Denali and the other grand peaks of the Alaska range which otherwise would be rising majestically behind and beyond this scene and no doubt would have compelled my attention to their grandeur.
Tugging down the resistant bus window, I steadied as best I could as the bus bounced along the unsurfaced road, and attempted to focus my long lens on the patterned areas that most drew my eye. The resulting abstracts were nothing like the landscape images of Denali that I'd imagined getting on that trip, but when I happily found these abstracts again recently while going through old files, I thought it worth sharing a sample or two.
Thanks for viewing!

i had planned to get a photo of Comet Neowise in the night sky from the edge of my garden as has become somewhat customary in the recent weeks, unfortunately nature has conspired against me by providing blankets of cloud at the wrong time. though tonight the sky was clear, unfortunately, the comet has lost its brightness and is now barely descernable, I've added an arrow to point it out.
I am not sure what the light trail is from in the upper region, i never noticed anything pass, though it is very bright, i expect it is a reflection of a passing satellite though please note that the ISS passed around 1/2 hr earlier and further to the south.

She’s the singing rain
alas, she's mute;
She’s the sweet song
of a broken flute.
The landscape in and around Caineville, Utah is nothing like anything else on this planet. There are very few earthly landscapes that match this terrain in simultaneously being scarred and beautiful. Walking this land feels like walking on the very end of one. The trail I trekked during a blinding blizzard was eight inches wide, gained elevation in buckets, had a bed of bentonite clay – one that mushes up like butter in water or snow – and was topped with a generous sprinkling of scree (See above). For every two or three steps forward, I had to pay a step backward to please the unrelenting gravity. One could imagine that the spirit of this place – if any – would be mute, unfriendly, unyielding and repulsive.
It was exactly the opposite.
Believe me, because I met her – the outré spirit of this land. This conclave was conspired by the blizzard that curtained the outer world and left me in her company. I learned quickly that despite her isolation, she makes friends easily. In a few minutes, we were talking deeply without using useful words. Much like the wind that caresses her open heart, she interacted with absolute abandon – if she was on Facebook, they would ban her for her audacious thoughts. She was charmingly carefree – if there was a piano nearby, she would have played it despite not knowing a thing about doing so. I felt warm in her company notwithstanding the snow. As we became friends, I realized that her core has a void – an undulating void, the kind that are created when one quits something that was once truly meaningful to them. I could tell that this void haunts her, but her grace covers the lacuna with most beautiful things. Before leaving, I held her hand and she held mine. I barely left anything for her, but she infused me with a bit of her talismanic soul that is nothing like anything else on this planet.
SHIPtember is harsh. Work and plumbing problems really conspired against me this month. I tried to crank it out but ultimately couldn't find a good path forward that I was happy with. This is the current unsatisfactory state of the WIP. It's fat, heavy, and the proportions are weird. I'll probably continue to work on it at a more leisurely pace over the winter. Perhaps I'll come up with something I'm satisfied with before Bricks Cascade in Portland next March. All feedback and suggestions are welcome. Come on all you space dorks, chime in with your critiques!
Needless to say I won't be bringing this to BrickCon. I'll bring the Dalu instead. She's a fine looking ship, relatively easy to transport, and it's never been displayed at BrickCon.
Congratulations to all SHIPtember participants!
The Full Frost Supermoon of last November is framed by a Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa) from the shoulder of Table Mesa (that name gets me every time), near Boulder, Colorado. The National Center for Atmospheric Research complex sits immediately behind me, and the view of the rising moon sweeps eastward toward the gently sloping High Plains.
The weather and work schedule did not cooperate when it came to photographing the recent Full Flower Moon. And so, I went searching through the archives to see if there was anything moon-related I had previously overlooked. However, apologies for the technical short-comings that are evident... I tried focus-stacking here, in order to get the pines and moon in focus; however, the wind conspired against me, and there are some obvious spots that are blurry. I worked on the most glaring of these with the patch tool, and that is an imperfect fix. And thus, I post this image with a companion question - have the enterprising among you discovered a fix for focus-stacking in the wind? How many images should be taken?
Thanks for taking the time to visit!
Sunday 27 11 22 was very wet in Wellington. This solitary rose was dripping and the window was repelling rain. It conspired to give a lovely (background) bokeh.

My feeble attempts at capturing the elusive beauty of these elegant wine glasses, a precarious balance of shimmering glassware, like a troupe of acrobats on the edge of a fiasco. Glassware photography is nothing but challenging, every angle apparently conspiring against me, every glint of light mocking my attempts. And, just to spice things up a bit, I perhaps may have indulged in one too many!

My doll Elizabeth isn't the only little person who's been accompanying me on this trip: Her older sister Emily (the manager of KDON radio) is also on a much-needed vacation away from co-worker Don Buzzle. Emily helped conspire with me to get Elizabeth on this trip: We both knew she could use the vacation and would enjoy it once she had no chance to back out! Emily is a big Julie Andrews fan, so I of course had to take her along with me for photo day in Salzburg. Emily's beautiful sweater is by elenpriv @ etsy.
Amo
todas
as coisas
não porque sejam
ardentes
ou fragrantes, mas porque
não sei
porque
este oceano é o teu
é o meu: os botões,
as rodas
os pequenos
tesouros
esquecidos,
os leques em
cujas plumagens
o amor desvaneceu
suas flores de laranjeira,
as taças, as facas,
as tesouras
tudo tem
no cabo, no contorno,
a marca
de uns dedos
de uma remota mão
perdida
no mais esquecido do esquecimento
...
O rio
irrevocável
das coisas
não se dirá
que só
amei
os peixes,
ou as plantas da selva e do prado,
que não só
amei
o que salta, sobe, sobrevive, suspira
Não é verdade:
muitas coisas me revelaram tudo.
Não só me tocaram
ou tocou-as minha mão,
mas sim acompanharam
de tal modo
minha existência
que comigo existiram
e foram para mim tão existentes
que viveram comigo meia vida
e morrerão comigo meia morte
Ode às Coisas - Pablo Neruda
I love
all
things,
not because they are
passionate
or sweet-smelling
but because,
I don’t know,
because
this ocean is yours,
and mine;
these buttons
and wheels
and little
forgotten
treasures,
fans upon
whose feathers
love has scattered
its blossoms,
glasses, knives and
scissors –
all bear
the trace
of someone’s fingers
on their handle or surface,
the trace of a distant hand
lost
in the depths of forgetfulness.
O irrevocable
river
of things:
no one can say
that I loved
only
fish,
or the plants of the jungle and the field,
that I loved
only
those things that leap and climb, desire, and survive.
It’s not true:
many things conspired
to tell me the whole story.
Not only did they touch me,
or my hand touched them:
they were
so close
that they were a part
of my being,
they were so alive with me
that they lived half my life
and will die half my death.
Ode to things - Pablo Neruda

Black Skimmers
05/27/2012
No photographers were harmed in the making of this image. Fortunately he landed before crashing into the lens. You don't realize how much wingspan these guys have until you try taking a flight shot. A typical wingspan is 42-50 inches.
Did you know that a group of skimmers are collectively known as a "conspiracy", "embezzlement" and "scoop" of skimmers? I like a conspiracy of skimmers best as they tended to conspire against me in getting the shots I wanted.

Mind Reading Photo Series
I always imagined myself having this power of hearing what people think. Knowing what they worry about, what their plans are for the day, who they think are conspiring against them. And all these emotions we feel and act on, I want to photograph all those emotions the moment we feel them. This photo series is the result of my imagination. I just wish I had a way to know if what I thought they were thinking is right....
Shot using a 50mm + Full frame dSLR.
medium format film: bronica sqa, 180mm F/4.5, Ilford Delta 400, yellow filter.
inspired by one of my favorite songs, a photo that I have been wanting to brig into being for a couple of years. Inspiration, time, quiet, solitude all conspired to allow me to finally create it. I am grateful for that.
