Telemata is an artificial intelligence created in the 80's and then discontinued in the early 2000. In 2020, due to a strange twist of fate, she woke up embodying strange states of conscience leading her to question herself and search between files and images, the meaning of the frenetic life of the human being.

Glenn Losack: " Photography's New Conscience"

I had the opportunity to interview Glenn Losack, M.D. after a Facebook friend referred him to me. One of his themes of his photographs symmetry caught my eye . He is both a psychiatrist and a photojournalist. What a combination! His photos have appeared in National Geographic and American Photo magazines.

His story is incredible:

I discovered that SYMMETRY brought forth numerous fascinating subliminal, metaphorical, psychological and cultural themes that werenât evident in the original images [images before they were processed in Photoshop]. Symmetry also enhanced the asthetic beauty of images. I found that it didn't work for many images, but those that were symmetrizable successfully, I felt needed to be made public to instill intellectual analysis and discourse.

2. What image editing program do you use?

PHOTOSHOP CS4 the absolute KING of all applications. It is one of the greatest inventions of the modern era.

3. How long does it take to make an image?

I can spend hours on an image. Some I work on for days until I am satisfied. The average time is about a few hours. The real truth is an image is never finished. You have to though call it quits when you think youâve gotten the point across.

4. Whatâs your favorite image?

(He mentions two: YOKO- PRAGUE CZECH REPUBLIC and BLIND BABY SITTER- DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, pictured above)

An impossible question to answer. There are so many of them. My catalogue is close to 8000 images.

The two that come to mind is one that is owned by YOKO ONO ( the wife of John Lennon ) and the other made it into National Geographic.

5. What statement are you conveying in your image?

I have several goals with my photography. I am a devout advocate for the downtrodden, disenfranchised, scapegoated, handicapped, beggars of the world, etc⦠( Please go to the web site and peruse INDIAN BEGGARS). I have photographed in India for the last 20 years. I have photographed Leper colonies, mental hospitals, beggars of all types, self mutilating religious festivals, cremations, and many other subjects that the West have never seen or know very little about. I try to make my work on the disenfranchised palatable for my audience so that their first reaction is not one of shock or denial. I try to give the downtrodden honor dignity and respect.

Trained as a psychiatrist/medical doctor, I attempt to understand the inner world of my subjects; their personalities, their eccentricities and many times the oddities of humanity fascinate me. Basically I am trying to help my audience look at what is in general difficult to look at.

Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts, ideologies and photography with you.

Strength or weakness, I'm not sure. Nonetheless, when your conscience starts harassing you for some action, it is hard to disobey. If you do so, there is no use trying to convince yourself that such or such task is pointless: it will come back, again and again, until you proceed. When this arrives, you're not that much in control anymore: your conscience is. Are you still yourself? Is it just a part of your mind, or is it another will, living there in your head? I'm not sure. But that question was worth an image!

Technically, I have seen similar creations by several artists. This is my attempt at it, using only my own photos, instead of a 3D software, or pencils. I had to attach a hook to my upper lip, to emulate the face deformation (which I erased in post, obviously), but it worked as expected. Thanks for watching. Hope you like it!

The Trinity Chapel in Salisbury Cathedral is dominated by the glorious deep blue of the ''Prisoners of Conscience Window.'' The panels depict both 20th-century prisoners of conscience and the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, who is represented as a first-century prisoner of conscience.

The windows were made in Chartres, designed and cut by Gabriel Loire, from glass selected by his son, Jacques.

The windows were installed in 1980 and were unveiled by Yehudi Menuhin.

This photo is a classic for me because it catches the expression on the face of my son that all 11 of my kids get when I tell them I'll always be watching and knocking on the door of their conscience! Oh, they hate that, but....they know it's true! A mother's teachings stay with her children forever and always, so......as mothers this is a "WOW" responsibility and JOY! And, for kids....your mama is never gonna go away! LOL * Chris is my 5th child in the order of my brood of 11. And, yes, I birthed every single one of them the "ouch" way! LOL

NOTE: Thanks so much for your visits and comments to this photo. This is just one of those "fun" photos that I'd like to share with you, my family of flickr friends. I don't often get to see Chris, so this photo is extra special to me!

Reflect on today's Scripture: March 23, 2008, Easter Sunday: His Resurrection

Acts 10:34a, 37-43

Psalm 118:1-2, 16-17, 22-23

Colossians 3:1-4

John 20:1-9

Easter has come suddenly, with a burst of light!

Now we know that Jesus stands by his promises! In a flash, Christ has changed darkness and death into light and life. Our journey through the struggles of Lent and the pain of Holy Week is over. With malicious sacrilege, evil has done its worst to the sacred body of God's Son. With Mary and John, we saw Him die. We wept at the tomb. Then, before dawn on Sunday, Christ broke through the rock, shattered the power of sin and, according to tradition, appeared first to His Mother, then to the women and the apostles.

As we listen to today's first reading, we hear one of Peter's very first sermons. The curious bystanders were astounded at the change in this man. He comes fresh from the fiery tongues of Pentecost, still in shock at the dream he had on the way to Cornelius' house. Nothing was to be considered unclean. So he is free to preach to Gentiles the Good News of God's forgiveness and freedom for all. Peter and the others are commanded to baptize any who believe in the Christ. So the word spreads through the whole countryside and beyond. Resurrection is the hope of every living person. No wonder the apostles preached with such courage and enthusiasm!

They preached about a God who cared first for people who were poor and powerless, a God whose love governed all His relationships. And He taught us to not only believe in justice, but to act justly.

The Scripture readings during these fifty days between Easter and Pentecost are among the most exciting in the Church year. We burst into "Alleluias" over and over, and joyfully shout "Christ has Risen" this Sunday. But more than just singing, we settle into a new time of reflection on our own program for resurrection in these very troubled times. After all, it is our mission to bring new life to a troubled world. If we don't do it, who will? So let's repack for travel!

As followers of the Risen Christ, the time has come for greater efforts on our part to influence politicians and others on all the vital life issues that are integral to the teaching of Jesus Christ—from abortion and embryonic stem-cell research to corruption in government and all institutions—to proper medical care for the sick and elderly. Jesus teaches respect for every human person, whether alien or citizen. We need to study the document of the Bishops on Faithful Citizenship. Hopefully, many of us will continue our Why Catholic groups. Faith and action begin with understanding and loving the teachings and plans for action of our Church. We have so much to do as hope-filled Easter Catholics. These are critical times, and we must not fall back into laziness or complacency now that Lent has ended.

Let's hope our spiritual blood-pressure is just a bit higher as we proclaim the Good News.

Christ is Risen, Alleluia!

Pope Urges Youth to Form Friendship With Christ, for this is Best Relationship Key for Responding to Modern World

VATICAN CITY, MARCH 19, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI greeted university students gathered for an annual conference sponsored by Opus Dei, and encouraged them to foster a personal relationship with Christ so as to be able to respond to the great questions of our time.

The Pope greeted in three languages the 3,000 participants of the international UNIV congress, gathered today in St. Peter's Basilica. He then gave the traditional catechesis during his weekly general audience in Paul VI Hall.

"I offer a cordial welcome to all of you who have come to Rome from various countries and universities to celebrate Holy Week together, and to take part in the International UNIV Congress," the Holy Father told the youth. "In this way, you will be able to benefit from moments of common prayer, cultural enrichment and a helpful exchange of the experiences gained from your association with the centers and activities of Christian formation sponsored by the Prelature of Opus Dei in your respective cities and nations."

The conference this year, which ends Easter Sunday, is focused on the theme "Being, Appearing, and Communicating: Entertainment and Happiness in a Multi-Medial Society."

The Pontiff reminded the youth that with a "serious personal commitment, inspired by the Gospel values, it is possible to respond adequately to the great questions of our time.'

"The Christian knows that there is an inseparable link between the truth, ethics and responsibility," he said. "Every authentic cultural expression contributes to form the conscience and encourage the person to better himself with the end of bettering society. In this way one feels responsible before the truth, at the service of which, one must put one's own personal liberty."

A commitment

Benedict XVI said this implies "a mission requiring commitment." And to fulfill this commitment, he affirmed, "the Christian is called to follow Jesus, cultivating an intense friendship with him through prayer and contemplation."

"To be friends of Christ, and to give testimony of him wherever we are, demands, furthermore, the strength to go against the grain, remembering the words of the Lord: You are in the world but not of the world," he added.

The Pope encouraged the youth: "Do not be afraid, then, to be nonconformists when it is necessary; at your university, school and in all places."

"Dear young people of UNIV, be leaven of hope in the world that desires to meet Jesus, often without knowing it," he urged. "To better the world, make an effort above all to change yourselves through an intense sacramental life, especially through approaching the sacrament of penance, and participating assiduously in the celebration of the Eucharist."

The UNIV conferences began in 1968, inspired and encouraged by Opus Dei's founder, Monsignor Josemaría Escrivá, who was canonized in 2002.

Arches National Park is such a wonderful little spot located north of Moab UT. This park is home to over 2000 of the natural sandstone arches and visiting some of the most famous arches in the park can take quite a fair bit of time. During our visit to Moab a good bit of time was taken by some of the landmark locations like delicate arch, the fins, turret arch, etc. and we only had a mid morning time slot to visit the stunning North Window arch.

The North Windoe is basically a giant hole in a whuge sandstone wall and is famous for a view of the turret arch through the window. Unfortunately, we visited during a time when the shadow of the turret arch was not favorable for that composition. So, I Settled for a nice shot of the north window against the backdrop of the vivid blue sky.

"I am the conscience in the heart of all creatures

I am their beginning, their being, their end

I am the mind of the senses,

I am the radiant sun among lights

I am the song in sacred lore,

I am the king of deities

I am the priest of great seers…"

This is how Lord Krishna describes God in the Holy Gita. And to most Hindus.

A child, a brother, a charioteer, a warrior, a disciple, a guru, a cowherd, a messenger, the beloved of the gopis… Throughout his life, Lord Krishna enacted so many roles—the whole time never forgetting that they were just that, roles and that his true nature was eternal, ever blissful consciousness. In this way, he was able to remain detached and thus perform flawlessly, never allowing the smile to fall from his face.

Well, in this pic I wanted to represent the conscience.

is often difficult to illustrate something as abstract but I like challenges.

my interpretation:

The man who is coming represents the conscience, who tries to bring down the snake around the man.The snake represents the evil caused, by this reason is not quiet the conscience and tries to get to the other man but the snake does not leave him.

If the man had done no evil, the snake would not exist and consciencie would be sleeping peacefully.

Do you have a clear conscience? :))

Order my art prints here!

Straight from the camera.

We're familiar with the Hamsa hand - it is the one that looks a bit like the SL logo - but this print caught my eye and I was obsessed with it. An eye in the palm of both left and right hands, a perfectly arched eyebrow - I am not sure what drew me to it, but I was bewitched - hence the bewitched set of the clara dress came to be. When I was young, I was also very enamored with the eye of Horus. We'd go to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and I'd spend what felt like hours in the gift shop, studying the symbols on the jewelry. The ankh, the eye of horus, were so beautiful and mysterious to me. I guess my obsession with mystical and otherwordly things started pretty young.

If your conscience is too easily wounded, don't violate it. To violate even a weak conscience is to train yourself to override conviction, and that will lead to overriding true conviction about real sin. Moreover, violating the conscience is a sin in itself (Romans 14:23), bringing legitimate guilt for a real offense against God. So, respond to your conscience, even if it’s weak, and then continue to inform your conscience with God’s Word so it can begin to function with reliable data. - John MacArthur
