After working hard all season, a swim team returns to the pool, but this time it's not to practice laps. Instead kids came with noodles and inner tubes to float around in for an outdoor movie. Before the start of the movie the Team Chairperson, congratulated the team for their improvement over the season and presented the trophy to the team.
As the sun began to set, parent gathered in lounge chairs and the swimmers grabbed their inner tubes. In the distance, frog could be heard. It was a perfect summer night for a movie at the pool.
When planing a dive-in movie event, there are few things to remember:
-Pick a film that is appropriate for your audience. Also, capitalize on the environment of the pool with movie titles with water themes such as Jaws, Flushed Away, Gulliver's Travels, Surf's Up or Nim's Island.
- Arrange tiki-torches and citronella candles around the pool area. They add to the feel of the ambiance of the event as well as keep bugs away from your splash-in movie event.
- Thematically refreshments will help make your poolside movie event even more amazing. Rent a slushy machine and serve frozen drinks with little umbrellas. Popsicles and ice cream are always a great treat in the summer time.

Afghanistan
Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, congratulated Obama on his US election victory, saying it took the world into a "new era".
Iraq
Hoshyar Zebari, the Iraqi foreign minister, said Washington would not adopt a "quick disengagement" policy with Baghdad under the presidency of Barack Obama as a "great deal is at stake here".
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Zebari said: "I think it [Obama's election] was a major, major change ... although as far is Iraq is concerned I don't believe there will be any changes overnight. And there won't be any immediate disengagement because a great deal is at stake for everybody.
"I don't think there is much difference between the Iraqi government position and President-elect Obama's. He is contemplating withdrawing US forces within 16 months. We may have some difficulties with that time-line, but we also, in the status of forces agreement, set the date of 2011 as the date for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. So really the differences are not very wide."
Pakistan
Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistan's prime minister, congratulated Obama on his victory, saying he hoped the Democrat would promote "peace and stability" in the region around Afghanistan.
"I hope that under your dynamic leadership, [the] United States will continue to be a source of global peace and new ideas for humanity," he said in a statement, directed at Obama.
"I look forward to more opportunities to discuss ways to further strengthen Pakistan-US relations and to promote peace and stability in our region and beyond."
Obama has riled Islamabad in the past, pledging that the US under his leadership would "take out" al-Qaeda and Taliban bases in Pakistan.
Palestinian Territories
Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, congratulated Obama and urged him to speed up efforts to reach an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
"President Abbas congratulates US president-elect Barack Obama in his name and in the name of the Palestinian people and hopes he will speed up efforts to achieve peace, particularly since a resolution of the Palestinian problem and the Israeli-Arab conflict is key to world peace," Nabil Abu Rudeina, Abbas's spokesman, said.
"President Abbas hopes the new administration will continue to make the peace efforts one of its top priorities."
Meanwhile, Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, urged Obama to learn from the "mistakes" of previous US administrations in dealing with the Muslim and Arab worlds.
"He must learn from the mistakes of the previous administrations, including that of Bush which has destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine," said Fawzi Barhum, a Hamas spokesman.
"He must improve US ties with the rest of the world rather than wave the big American stick.
"We want him to support the Palestinian cause or at least not to be biased towards the Israeli occupation. We have no problem establishing normal relations with the United States to explain our just cause."
Israel
Israeli-US relations face "a bright future", Ygal Palmor, a spokesman for Israel's foreign ministry, said in reaction to Obama's election to the White House.
"Israelis congratulate the two great friends of Israel, John McCain for his great campaign, Barack Obama for his historic victory.
"We are certain that Israeli-American friendship faces a bright future."
Tzipi Livni, leader of the ruling Kadima party, recalled Obama's visit to Israel in July and said that "the people of Israel felt he [Obama] is a man who is deeply committed to Israel's security and peace".
"Israel hopes to pursue close strategic cooperation with the new administration and the new US president, and hopes to further tighten the unshakeable ties between our two countries," she said.
China
Hu Jintao, China's president, congratulated Obama on his victory in the US presidential poll, saying a closer relationship btween the two nations would be "for the benefit of Chinese and American people, and people around the world".

"The relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is vital to our prosperity and security ... Barack Obama ran an inspirational campaign, energising politics with his progressive values and his vision for the future."
India
India's ruling Congress party hailed Obama's victory, saying his "youthful energy" was in tune with the energy of emerging India.
"Obama represents youthful energy, exuberant dynamism and a forward-looking progressive mindset which is also the spirit animating India," Abhishek Manu Singhvi, spokesman for India's Congress party, said.
France
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, congratulated Obama on a "brilliant victory".
"I give you my warmest congratulations and, through me, those of all French people," Sarkozy told the Democratic candidate in a letter made public by the French presidency.
"Your brilliant victory rewards a tireless commitment to serve the American people. It also crowns an exceptional campaign whose inspiration and exaltation have proved to the entire world the vitality of American democracy. By choosing you, the American people have chosen change, openness and optimism," he wrote.
"At a time when all of us must face huge challenges together, your election raises great hope in France, in Europe and elsewhere in the world."
The European Union
Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Comimission, applauded Obama's victory, with Barroso calling for a "new deal".
"This is a time for a renewed commitment between Europe and the United States of America," Barroso said in a statement. "We need to change the current crisis into a new opportunity. We need a new deal for a new world."
"I sincerely hope that with the leadership of President Obama, the United States of America will join forces with Europe to drive this new deal. For the benefit of our societies, for the benefit of the world."
South Africa
Kgalema Motlanthe, South Africa's president, congratulated Obama on his presidential victory, saying Africa "stood proud" and looked forward to a fruitful working relationship.
"Your election ... carries with it hope for millions of your countrymen and women as much as it is for millions of people of ... African descent both in the continent of Africa as well as those in the diaspora," he said.
Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black leader, also congratualted Obama, saying that Obama's election as US president showed that anybody could dream to change the world.
"Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place," Mandela wrote in a letter to Obama.
The 90-year-old Mandela applauded Obama's commitment to support global peace and said he trusted that combatting poverty and disease would become the mission of Obama's presidency.
"We wish you strength and fortitude in the challenging days and years that lie ahead," said Mandela.
"We are sure you will ultimately achieve your dream [of] making the United States of America a full partner in a community of nations committed to peace and prosperity for all."
Sudan
Khartoum expressed hope that Obama's election win would mean "real change" for the country's strained relations with the US - America has branded Sundan as a "state sponsor of terrorism".
"The result of the election is a purely domestic affair, but certainly the United States, being the only big power in the world, it affects almost everything in other countries," said Ali al-Sadiq, a spokesman for Sudan's foreign ministry.
"We would hope that the slogan of president Obama - 'change' - would be reflected in the foreign policy in the United States, especially towards Sudan and oppressed countries, the Palestinians, the Iraqis and the Somalis.
"We would like to see some real change between Sudan and the United States."

"I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Senator Obama on his election as President of United States of America," Aso said in a statement.

"His call for change opened a new phase in American politics, sparking hope and inspiration not only for the American people but the citizens of the world.
"America has always been the bastion of democracy and the world has always looked to the USA for direction. Obama has promised change and the American people and the world await these changes. We look forward to greater co-operation between the USA and the Philippines, the Democrats have always been good allies."
Australia
Kevin Rudd, the Australian prime minister, praised Obama's victory saying it was a testament to the strength of the US democratic system and was a message of hope not just for the United States but for the whole world.
"Twenty-five years ago Martin Luther King [the US civil right activist] had a dream of an America where men and women would be judged not on the colour of their skin but on the content of their character," Rudd told said.

President Barack Obama congratulates Staff Sgt. Ty Michael Carter just after he bestowed him with the Medal of Honor in the East Room of the White House, Aug. 26, 2013. Carter distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a Scout with Bravo Troop, 3d Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, during combat operations against an armed enemy in Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan on October 3, 2009. On that morning, Specialist Carter and his comrades awakened to an attack of an estimated 300 enemy fighters occupying the high ground on all four sides of Combat Outpost Keating, employing concentrated fire from recoilless rifles, rocket propelled grenades, anti-aircraft machine guns, mortars and small arms fire. Specialist Carter reinforced a forward battle position, ran twice through a 100 meter gauntlet of enemy fire to resupply ammunition and voluntarily remained there to defend the isolated position. Armed with only an M4 carbine rifle, Specialist Carter placed accurate, deadly fire on the enemy, beating back the assault force and preventing the position from being overrun, over the course of several hours. With complete disregard for his own safety and in spite of his own wounds, he ran through a hail of enemy rocket propelled grenade and machine gun fire to rescue a critically wounded comrade who had been pinned down in an exposed position. Specialist Carter rendered life extending first aid and carried the Soldier to cover. On his own initiative, Specialist Carter again maneuvered through enemy fire to check on a fallen Soldier and recovered the squadâs radio, which allowed them to coordinate their evacuation with fellow Soldiers. With teammates providing covering fire, Specialist Carter assisted in moving the wounded Soldier 100 meters through withering enemy fire to the aid station and before returning to the fight. Specialist Carterâs heroic actions and tactical skill were critical to the defense of Combat Outpost Keating, preventing the enemy from capturing the position and saving the lives of his fellow Soldiers. Specialist Ty M. Carterâs extraordinary heroism and selflessness above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, Bravo Troop, 3d Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and the United States Army. Carter is currently stationed as a staff noncommissioned officer with the 7th Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and lives with his wife, Shannon, and their three children. The foundation stone of this Institute at Wirrabara was laid by the Hon L O'Loughlin on Wednesday, March l3th.
In performing the ceremony the Hon Mr O'Loughlin expressed his great pleasure at being present, and congratulated the people on the possession of a building which would be in keeping with, the district. With its splendid soil and climate Wirrabara could grow everything of the best, and with its enterprising people, and the railway which made for closer settlement, it was bound to become an important town. It was twenty-eight years since the opening of the old hall.
The Hon J G Bice also spoke. He congratulated the contractor (Mr A S Haggar) on the progress made in the building. Only a few weeks ago there had been nothing but the foundations, and the hall was now half completed.
A public tea, arranged by the ladies' committee, was afterwards held in the old hall. The hall was crowded later in the evening, when a very successful concert took place. The proceedings terminated with a dance.
The building is of Wirrabara Forest stone, the dimensions of the main hall being 47 ft by 35 ft exclusive of stage. Under the stage is a basement giving two dressing rooms, while with the aid of movable partitions the space may be converted into a supper room. The front portion of the edifice will consist of the library and reading rooms, public room and subscribers' room. The front rooms being designed to carry another storey if desired. All the ceilings will be of Wunderlich, and the main hall will be well ventilated by eight box frame windows. The lighting service is to be carried out by an up-to-date installation of acetylene gas.

Opening of Wirrabara Institute
The opening of the Wirrabara Institute on Friday, August 23rd, was celebrated by a two day bazaar which proved a great success, takings totalling about £150.
The ceremony was performed by His Excellency the Governor (Sir Day Hort Bosanquet), who was received at the hall by a guard of honour, consisting of the girls of the Wirrabara and Forest schools.
The chairman of the council (Mr S Challinger), briefly traced the growth of the town from the time he had first gone through it 55 years ago, when Wirrabara had been in its natural state.
Financially, the whole effort to build the new hall has proved a great success, about £220 having been raised since the laying of the foundation stone some few months ago. This added to the amount in hand leaves a balance of £1000. The building, which cost nearly £2000 is a fine structure, which |reflects great credit on the architect (Mr J Firmin Jenkins).

ANSBACH, Germany – The U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach (USAG Ansbach) Army Education Centers held a Recognition Ceremony for 2017-2018 graduates Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Von Steuben Community Center on Bismark Kaserne.
Twenty-one graduates received their honors during the ceremony accompanied by the applause of more than 100 parents, spouses, teachers and community members who turned out to congratulate the graduates.
The ceremony is held annually as part of American Education Week, an annual observance to encourage Soldiers and civilians to continue in pursuit of higher education and increase awareness of resources available in achieving a degree.
Due to service members, family members, veterans and retirees having such diverse schedules and attendance at different schools due to relocations and deployments, the ceremony fulfilled the wish that many attending the event might otherwise not have had the opportunity to experience: to step up front and center before family, peers and classmates for the presentation of their degree.
Many of those recognized had already been conferred their degrees and officially graduated, but had not been honored for their academic achievement publicly.
Some students attending opted for other choices of dress, but shades of black, blue and gray graduation caps and gowns – representing a diverse collection of colleges and universities – filled the place of honor in the front rows.
Mr. Philip Romanelli, USAG Ansbach Deputy to the Garrison Commander presided over the ceremony. Romanelli, himself a graduate of both Princeton and Cambridge Universities also served as the guest speaker and in his opening remarks praised the graduates for their drive and tenacity in pursuit of their degrees.

PALM BAY, Fla. - Soldiers from the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) welcomed thousands of participants and spectators to the 2016 Tough Mudder Challenge Nov. 5, 2016, in Palm Bay, Fla.
Hailing from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company and the 196th Transportation in Company in Orlando, the troops inspired challengers to complete an 11-mile course lined with more than 20 obstacles that tested individual strength, stamina and resiliency in a team-building atmosphere. Their interactive engagements among typically young, athletic and energetic individuals help bolster recruitment initiatives orchestrated by the Army Marketing Research Group.
As dawn’s sunlight pierced through palm trees to illuminate The Compound, an undeveloped patch of Palm Bay made popular by paint ball players, off-road riders and remote control plane enthusiasts, the 143rd ESC Soldiers took their posts near the registration tables to greet their colorfully dressed guests and distribute eye blacks emblazoned with the U.S. Army logo.
While the competitors affixed their complimentary glare reduction stickers to their faces, the troops gathered at the starting line to cheer the first wave of veteran Tough Mudders eager to enter the gauntlet. The thousands of high fives, hundreds of handshakes and dozens of fist pumps exchanged between the Soldiers and competitors climaxed with an emotional rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner performed by Sgt. 1st Class Randall B. Wight, a vocalist from the U.S. Army Field Band. As Wight blared the last note, the competitors yelled a defying, “Hooah,” before charging across the starting line to commence their 11-mile trek strewn with uniquely designed obstacles boasting mud, ropes, slides, tunnels and even live electrical wires.
Some Soldiers stood fast at the starting line to cheer on the continuous waves of competitors, while others boarded Gator all-terrain vehicle bound for the Berlin Wall, an Army Reserve sponsored obstacle erected near the 9-mile marker. The Wall lived up to its name with two, 10-foot high wooden structures designed to reinforce teamwork rather than bolster brute force. One by one, the Soldiers encouraged hundreds of exhausted Tough Mudders to help their fellow competitors climb over the slippery incline. Several troops even inspired some participants to perform pushups before and after their encounter with the Berlin Wall.
The positive interactions between the 143rd ESC Soldiers and their gritty guests enticed hundreds of Tough Mudders to visit the Go Army Reserve interactive display. Many tapped into their nearly sapped strength and stamina to complete a fitness challenge that comprised pushups, pull-ups and a sled pull. The fitness challenge also opened opportunities for U.S. Army Reserve recruiters to speak with Tough Mudders who expressed interest in pushing their mental and physical limits while serving their country.
The 143rd ESC will return to The Compound for the second and final day of the Tough Mudder Challenge to continue motivate, congratulate and educate the Tough Mudder community.
Story and photos by Sgt. John L. Carkeet IV, 143rd ESC
