BLACK COFFEE – LACY J DALTON
We couldn't get in at the restaurant we wanted
we didn't think to book
so we were re-directed across the road
and found a cosy comfy nook
this poster caught my eye and so
I pointed shot and took
a little boy from olden days
who caught a big fish on a little hook
the carvery was excellent
I met and congratulated the cook
we piled our plates as high as we could
we signed our names in the visitor's book
the place was a little dark but not shabby
it had it's own style; conversation babbled like a brook
we felt relaxed and satiated and happy
as we left for the theatre for which we DID book
an amateur production of Agatha Christie's
play called Black Coffee; well worth a look
the performers were brilliant; very professional
we couldn't second-guess who was the crook
Hercule Poirot arrived looking a bit dishevelled
in a well-worn well-creased linen jacket he forsook
to press it as well as Captain Hasting's trousers
the audience laughed; our shoulders shook
the stage was set; the lights were dimmed
until the interval came and everyone took
a break for an ice-cream, fresh air and ablutions
returned for the final half of this lesser known book
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and visit
to the Palace Theatre as we undertook
to applaud the wonderful players of this play
sad to say goodnight as the room fell dark as a rook.

Let's congratulate Chuck on his year long achievement with his Completion Award, Perfect Attendance, and having the highest GPA in his class.
Week 6 beginning July 30, 2012 and ending August 3, 2012.
The sixth week of camp has come to an end and we have 2 weeks left! This past week of camp kicked off with "Puttin on the Hits" performed by our Jr. and Sr. groups! On Tuesday, the Willows and Jr. camp participated in Puppet Pizzazz! The CITs took a trip to Dave & Busters on Wednesday! We would like to congratulate everyone on a great and successful Color War. Both the Blue team (Superman) and the White team (Spiderman) did an amazing job. But in the end, Spiderman went webbing through the trees to beat Superman to the finish. All became friends and went on to have a great day! The sixth week of camp ended with the "All Camp Cookout & Dance Party". By the pictures you can tell we all had so much fun!

¡Hola amigas y amigos! You can see we are once again on the road, or more accurately, on the lake. Kacey, who has so kindly documented our world exploration convinced us that we needed to see Alaska in the winter. We have once again bid adios to Oaxaca and hola to new lands.
What is more cliché than wooden toys in the snow - maybe everything ;-} We think we deserve and Oscar!

Arsemia ’22
Arsemia is located just at the foot of Mt. Nemrut and served as one of Commagene's royal capitals. It is on a steep hill and very defensible, but aside from that and the proximity to the holy site (and royal burial ground) of Nemrut it has few obvious benefits. The "city" is really more of an elite fortress, isolated from the surrounding society and artificially kept alive to enhance the stature of the monarchy. The more practical capital was Samosata (now underwater) which was also a strong defensive position capable of holding off Mark Antony's army. The layout of the "city" is rather unclear for visitors, but there are a number of surviving relics, including several statues commemorating Antiochus' friendships with numerous (mainly Greek) gods and several underground passageways.
This sculpture here is a duplicate of one found at this site and depicts Antiochus shaking hands with Heracles/Artagnes/Ares. It provides a good example of the fusion of Persian/Greek culture that defined the kingdom.

With a powerful sprint, Mark Cavendish took Eddy Merckx's victory record in the Tour de France on Wednesday. The Manx Missile sprinted so hard that he crossed the line with a dropped chain.
Until Wednesday, July 3, Mark Cavendish and Eddy Merckx shared the record number of stage victories in the Tour de France, but after a sprint win in the fifth stage, the Briton is the only record holder with 35 stage victories. Afterwards, Merckx posted congratulations on social media and Cavendish said he "loves Eddy". "He has always been super sweet to me. I have not taken anything away from the great Eddy Merckx. This is just a number. Eddy Merckx is Eddy Merckx."
The 79-year-old Merckx congratulated Cavendish via a story on his Instagram channel: "Congratulations Mark on this historic achievement," he said. "Such a good guy who breaks my record in the Tour."

This happened at a park in Cote St. Luc, Montreal. Luckily a very smart park employee named Josh was able to pull apart the boards of the dock to let this duckling go free.
Yay for smart, compassionate men like Josh! That's what I call a real man!
I wrote to the mayor to ask him to congratulate Josh on saving the duckling.
